Chapter 38 - The Truth Hurts Doesn't It

The group follow Y/N into the Ravenclaw common room. They are all curious as to what they had just witnessed with Draco and the only person who can tell them is Y/N. Hermione and Flo have their arms crossed and so does Callan who stays away from the group standing by the wall. The other boys look puzzled and Jorden, a little scared

"Well" Flo says "care to explain yourself"

The Ravenclaw sighs "what do want to know"

"What was wrapped around your arm" Harry says

"Yes and why the bloody hell was it hurting you" Ron adds

"Was it Draco that did it?" Hermione asks "I swear I didn't see him cast a spell though"

"It wasn't Draco" Y/N says "well, not entirely"

"You created a blood pact" Callan says coldly looking at Y/N and the Ravenclaw looks sorry for herself as she bows her head to the floor.

"Yes" she says softly and Callan looks furious

"Thats why the ring went red" Harry says and the Ravenclaw nods. She doesn't dare meet Hermione's gaze knowing the sight she'll see will only cause her pain.

"Y/N how could you do something so stupid," Callan says angrily "why would the two of you think about creating such a thing"

"You wouldn't understand none of you would understand" the Ravenclaw retaliates bitterly

"Try us Y/N" Flo says sternly and the Ravenclaw sighs

"The night of the Gala, when Draco came, he said he wanted to stop the fighting between us. I said there's no way we can be friends and no way that I could trust him after what he's done. So he suggested a blood pact" Y/N says

"And you were stupid enough to go along with it" Callan replies bitterly and Y/N glares at him angrily.

"What was the deal" Hermione says coldly and Y/ N swallows thickly

"Neither of us could harm the other, and he would leave you all alone" Y/N says

"The ring it glowed red" Harry says "because you attacked him"

"Y/N your wand glowed green" Jorden says timidly "it scared us, it scared me. It was like you wanted to- kill him"

"I wasn't thinking" Y/N says bitterly

"Clearly" Callan scoffs and the Ravenclaw chooses to ignore it

"But the blood pact stoped me. Even the thought of attacking him," Y/N continues and the ring turns red and the silver strands appear and slowly wrap around Y/N's arm. Her friends stare in shock. As the Ravenclaw grunts as pain shoots up her arm. She focuses on her breathing and eventually the pain stops and the silver strands recede. "We did it to keep each other safe, to keep us safe"

"That's bullshit Y/N, you did this for yourself" Callan says coldly "you have always had a soft spot for him when you know deep down that he will never change"

"You know nothing about why I did what I did" Y/N snaps

"No Y/N." Hermione's voice cuts through the air like a knife "you did this for yourself and you lied to us. To me"

"Hermione I-"

"No, you don't get to stand their and act all innocent you knew exactly what you were doing and that it was a bad idea. You knew that we- I wouldn't approve of it. But that's not even what's hurts the most" Hermione says crying "it's the fact that after everything I've done, you will always choose him over me"

"That's not true Hermione I love you" Y/N says, tears starting to well in her eyes

"If you loved me so much why would you do this? Why would you go behind my back and side with him and not me?" Hermione says and the others step back to give the couple some space.

"That's not what-"

"No shut up and open your eyes, you betrayed me and your friends all for your own selfish gain" Hermione yells "I never want to see you again"

"No you don't get to walk away from this" Y/N says angrily "I did this because I didn't want to lose you and this was the only way I knew I keep you and our friends safe"

Hermione scoffs "You're a fucking hypocrite and an arrogant prick. I hate to break it to you Y/N, but you're just like him" Hermione screams

"You take that back" Y/N shouts "I'm nothing like Draco"

"Oh really what was it that you told me over the summer, that you hated mudbloods, witches like me!"

"You said that you accepted my past!" Y/N snaps and the two have tears in their eyes and their friends stand speechless

Suddenly Ron steps in and grabs Y/N shoulder "alright let's just take it down a notch alright" the Weasley boy says calmly

Y/N pushes his hand aside "stay out of it Ron" and he does but eyes the two girls wearily

"We'll maybe I wasn't thinking clearly but I am now. You will always choose Draco over us because you are just like him" Hermione yells and Y/N stays silent and the room is awe fully quiet

"Draco was right about you" Y/N finally says "you really are fucking insane!"

There are tears in Hermione's eyes and Y/N's filled with anger. Callan and Flo step in taking the Ravenclaw by the shoulder's

"I think you should leave" Flo says sternly and Y/N brushes off Flo me Callan's grip and walks towards the common room exit.

Ron takes Hermione hand who doesn't break eye contact from Y/N  "I don't even recognise you anymore" Hermione says softly

Y/N's jaw tightens "good" she says and storms out of the Ravenclaw common room

Once the Ravenclaw leaves Hermione bursts into tears. She cries on Ron's shoulder and the Weasley boy tries to comfort her. All of them do.

They hear muffled swearing coming from down the hall of the common room and they all know it's Y/N none of them make an attempt to check on her all to appalled by the Ravenclaw's behaviour and recent actions. They all feel either hurt or betrayed by her. She picked the enemy over her friends, the people who have been there for her.

"What are we going to do" Jorden says quietly to Callan who sighs

"I don't know Jord's" Callan says and they try and comfort Hermione as best they can knowing that it'll do little to ease the heartbreak the Gryffindor girl is feeling.
