Chapter 36 - Patronus Charm

The DA meeting is in full swing with the class working on Patronus Charms, a class that a lot of the students were looking forward to. Y/N and Harry show them the basic movements for the spell and walk around the space helping out their fellow students.

"Make it a powerful memory," Y/N says  "the happiest you can remember. Allow it to fill you up."

Seamus' wand flickers with a small blue strands illuminating his wand but it dies out shortly after

"Keep trying, Seamus." Harry says and the Gryffindor boy smiles "George, your turn now."

"Expecto Patronum," the Weasley twin says and sparks appear from his wand and his animal patronus appears from his wand. A magpie "Hell yeah"

"Nice one George" Fred says to his twin and pats him on the back

"A full-body Patronus is the most difficult to produce, but shield forms can also be equally useful against a variety of opponents." Y/N says and walks over to Ginny who has just produced her Patronus which is a horse and it gallops around the room

"Wow, that was really good." Rue says smiling at Ginny and the Weasley girl grins brightly at her Patronus.

"Fantastic, Ginny." Harry says with a wide smile and Y/N can't but notice Ginny blush at the praise "Just remember, your Patronus can only protect you for as long as you stay focused."

"Your turn Luna. Think of the happiest thing you can." Y/N says and the Ravenclaw raises her wand.

"Expecto Patronum," Luna says and casts the spell. Blue sparks illuminate out of her wand and her Patronus is revealed. A rabbit.

Y/N smiles and spots Harry walking over to Neville who is having a little bit of trouble. "Keep trying Neville, I'm sure you'll get it soon," Y/N says and Neville smiles

"This is really advanced stuff, guys. You're doing so well." Harry encourages and Y/N walks over to Cal and Jorden who are just getting ready to cast their spell,

"You two ready," Y/N says and Callan smiles and Jorden steps back

"You go first Cal, I believe in you" Jorden encourages and Callan winks at him and gives him a cheeky smirk

"Thanks for the encouragement Jord's," Callan says and flicks his wand "Expecto Patronum."

The tip of Cal's wand brightens and bursts of blue light pour out of his wand. They dance around him before forming into the shape of a grizzly bear and growls loudly. The Slytherin boy smiles and Jorden grins.

"You did it Cal," Jorden says and Y/N grins at the two of them

"Your turn Jord's" Y/N says and Aston and Rue come over to the trio, wanting to watch their brother cast his Patronus.

Jorden looks a little nervous but Callan gives him a reassuring smile. Jorden gets a look of determination in his eyes and waves his wand "Expecto Patronum"

Sparks form at the end of his wand then fizzle out. The Hufflepuff sighs.

"It's alright Jord's you'll get it next time" Y/N encourages

Jorden smiles but suddenly sparks burst through his wand causing him to fall on his back. A large animal then appears and takes up half the room. All the students stop what they are doing and move out of the way as the patronus takes form.

"Holy shit,"  Aston says and Y/N scolds him for his language but looks up in amazement at Jorden's Patronus. An elephant.

"Wow Jordy yours is so cool," Rue says and Jorden grins at his Patronus

He laughs with amazement as the elephant bows his head in front of the Hufflepuff "This is amazing," He says and Y/N grins. The rest of the students applaud Jorden whilst Y/N makes her way over to Harry, Ron, Hermione and Flo.

They have all seemed to be able to a produce a patronus. Flo an owl, Ron a jack russel terrior and Hermione an otter. Y/N smiles and takes out her wand and with the flick of her wrist, her patronus appears. The falcon flies up to Hermione and her otter and the Gryffindor looks at Y/N with a grin on her face. Y/N hugs Hermione from behind as she watches their Patronus' interact.

"I think they like each other" Y/N says and Hermione smiles

"It appears so" Hermione replies and leans into Y/N's touch

"If you don't mind me asking what was the memory you thought about" Y/N whispers

Hermione giggles "I just thought of you" she replies and Y/N smirks and kisses Gryffindor's cheek. "what about you"

Y/N smirks "I think of you"

Hermione now faces Y/N and grins as she leans in to capture the Ravenclaw's lips for a tender kiss. They can feel their Patronus' dance around each other.

Suddenly, there is a loud banging sound coming from outside the room causing everyone to stop and their patronus' retreat. The room rattles and the light flicker. Y/N gently pulls away from Hermione to find where the sound is coming from. Aston walks up the mirror and Y/N follows. The mirror starts to crack and eventually shatters to the ground revealing the stone wall behind it. 

A small hole has formed from the banging and Aston and Y/N lean in closer to get a better look at what happening. They hear voices.

"I'll make short work of this. Bombarda Maxima-"

In a matter of seconds, Y/N grabs Aston and pushes them both to the side as stone crumbles around them. They fall to the ground pushed by the momentum of the spell. The Ravenclaw has her hands wrapped around the younger Hufflepuff hoping to shield him from the debret. A cloud of dust mists the air and eventually Umbridge and her group of Slytherin students walk in.

"Y/N" Hermione calls and the Ravenclaw shakily stands and helps Aston to his feet. The two had minor cuts on their faces and covered in dust but other than that they were alright.

"Aston" Jorden calls

"We're fine" Y/N says as they walk back to the group. Umbridge stares at the group of DA students with an evil smile on her lips.

"Get them."
