"Did you expect to see us here?" Alice asked, smiling and sashaying over.

Y/N smiled awkwardly. "Nope, I didn't."

"I know, because you ignored my texts!" Alice joked, but Y/N could sense the seriousness under her tone.

"Sorry, guys, I've been kinda busy. I literally got arrested, in case you forgot."

"How could anyone forget? I'm so glad that wasn't me, I'd hide away in my room and never come out again." Alice held onto Sonia's arm and and laughed.

Y/N frowned. Alice had a way of embarrassing people to big herself up, especially when she was jealous of someone. Y/N was used to it from her, and usually took no notice, but it was different in front of Jimmy.

Sonia didn't laugh back. "I'm so sorry you went through that." she said to Y/N. "Are you okay now after the faint? And what on Earth were you even arrested for?"

"I'm fine, thank you, I was just a bit overwhelmed. And I've done nothing, that's the thing!" Y/N replied.

"Don't lie, I bet it was public indecency or something," said Alice. "Probably having sex with Jimmy behind a road sign, based on how you were glued to his chest when I walked in." She turned to Jimmy. "Jimmy, you're the first action she's had in years...or, well, ever. I bet she's like a rabid dog, isn't she? She can't even wait to get a room." She threw her head back laughing, her blonde locks swinging through the air.

Jimmy stared at her, expressionless. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave," he said.

Y/N's heart skipped a beat. Jimmy was about to argue with her closest friend. She couldn't believe it was happening. This wasn't the way it usually went when Alice made her cruel little jokes. This time, nobody laughed but her. Although Alice had had no shame in embarrassing Y/N, Y/N couldn't help but look down, not wanting to see her humiliated.

"Are you serious?" Alice said, awkwardly trying to laugh it off.

Jimmy sighed. "Yes."

"What, so I'm supposed to just walk out?" Alice asked incredulously.

"That's...usually how people leave, yes," said Jimmy. Y/N couldn't help but smirk at that line.

"But I'm her friend," argued Alice, pointing at Y/N.

"Really? Because how you spoke to her just then didn't sound like it."

"Fine." Alice pulled a disgusted face. "I thought you were supposed to be a comedian or something, and you can't even take a joke. You coming, Sonia?" She spun around and strutted away, bringing Sonia with her. Sonia looked over her shoulder and spared Y/N an apologetic look.

"Are they really your friends?" asked Jimmy once they were gone.

"Sadly," admitted Y/N, and she couldn't believe she said it out loud. "Well, I like Sonia," she backtracked. "Alice, the blonde one, is pretty mean, though."

"You need some new ones," Jimmy laughed.

Y/N had always found Alice annoying, and Sonia a bit of a pushover, but she had never realised they were that bad. Maybe it was because she didn't interact with many other people, so she had grown used to just those two. There was never anyone else around to tell her how bad they were at being friends, so it seemed normal to her. "I don't need friends. I have you," Y/N said, looking up at Jimmy sweetly and smiling.

Jimmy pulled Y/N into a hug again. "You might get bored of me, though," he said into her hair. "I can't have that."

Y/N would've been satisfied if it were just the two of them for the rest of their lives, and she hoped Jimmy felt the same way. Sadly, though, it would never be just the two of them. There were always watching eyes when you were dating a celebrity. "Never," she vowed.
