Don tossed the takeout bag down on the coffee table and took a seat on the sofa next to Kay. Jimmy sat cross-legged on the floor opposite Y/N.

"Put the TV on, Jim," said Kay, nodding to the remote on the table in front of him.

Jimmy slid the remote onto his lap. "Nah," he said, glancing at Y/N. "My show's on about this time."

Kay pouted. "You don't usually mind us watching. We can switch to a different channel, anyway."

Jimmy reached into his pocket quickly. "I've got Cards Against Humanity. Let's play that instead."

Don shrugged and nodded, sharing out everyone's portions of food.

"I'll be the Card Czar," said Jimmy, drawing ten random white cards each for Kay, Don, and Y/N, and one black card for himself. He stared down at his own black card, reading, "This month's Cosmo: 'Spice up your sex life by bringing blank into the bedroom.'"

The rest of them deliberated over their own white cards, shielding them from each other. Don selected one card out of his ten white ones first, then Kay, and then Y/N. They each placed theirs facedown in front of Jimmy.

"A turd," Jimmy read after viewing the first card, puffing his cheeks out to stifle a shameful laugh. "That's so bad it's good," he wheezed. Kay and Y/N managed sympathy giggles, too, rolling their eyes, and Don looked chuffed.

As Jimmy turned over the next card, Y/N noticed Kay staring at Jimmy, a slight smile dancing on her lips.

"Your boss," Jimmy said. "This month's Cosmo: 'Spice up your sex life by bringing your boss into the bedroom.'"

Jimmy and Don exchanged awkward glances, Don looking slightly amused. Kay whispered with a raise of an eyebrow and lick of her lips, "Already done that."

Y/N felt a sucker punch in her gut so hard she almost folded over. So, it wasn't in her head. There really was something going on between Jimmy and Kay.

For once in her life, she thought she'd found someone worthwhile, someone who put her first, but there was no going anywhere with Jimmy when his ex was still in the picture, and she definitely still had feelings.

Jimmy looked down, avoiding eye contact with anyone. He didn't smile like Kay, or seem to find it amusing like Don. Then, he looked up, locking eyes with Y/N, and read the last card. "This month's Cosmo: 'Spice up your sex life by bringing stranger danger into the bedroom.'"

When Y/N had chosen the card 'stranger danger' out of her stack of ten, she had instantly thought of Jimmy. When he had invited her into his car earlier on that day, it was her first thought. She had remembered her parents and teachers drumming the phrase into her head. Stranger danger. Never to get into a stranger's car. But Y/N had decided then that Jimmy wasn't a stranger. She knew him from TV, and though she'd never seen him before in person, he even worked in the same building as her. But now she backtracked on that thought. It seemed she didn't know him at all.

Question: Were you surprised by Kay's reveal or were you expecting it? If you guessed it, what made you think so?
