During the short journey, the driver looked behind him frequently, and advised Y/N and Jimmy to do so, too. The building they pulled up at was an average-looking apartment block.
"You guys get out," Jimmy's driver said to them all, "I'm gonna park round the block for safe measures."
Y/N, Jimmy, and his assistant stepped out of the car and made their way up the apartment path. Jimmy dialled in the code and the girls both followed him inside and up the bare stairs, their footsteps echoing.
"It's nothing special, but it can't be. The media won't suspect I live here, or any of my friends, that way," said Jimmy. "Kay's been here many a time."
Y/N felt that twang again.
Inside, the living room was nicely decorated with a brown leather couch, coffee table, television, and shelves, and the lights were warm and dim.
"Dibs crashing on the sofa tonight," said Jimmy. "You can have the bed, Y/N, you're the guest."
"Hey, so am I," Kay complained.
"Well, Y/N's the special guest."
"I'm sleeping on the couch with you, then, Jim," said Kay.
"You take up way too much room," Jimmy joked, reaching at Kay's obviously small body, making her squirm away, ticklish, and laugh uncontrollably. Y/N stood there like a lemon. "I'm gonna go make myself a coffee, anyone else want anything?" asked Jimmy.
"Yeah, thanks, Jim. You know how I like my coffee," said Kay.
"I know how Y/N likes hers, too," said Jimmy, smiling.
Y/N looked up. "How?"
"When I asked you to make me any coffee earlier, you must've chosen one you thought was good."
Y/N smirked. "Or maybe it's just a popular order."
"But I'm not the average customer," Jimmy took a step towards her.
"Doesn't make a difference." Y/N eyed him up. His point didn't make much sense her, but she found the way he said it sexy, regardless.
"Well, I'll make you it, then, and we can see if it's what you really like," Jimmy said, turning around into the kitchen, breaking their intimate moment.
Silence lingered, but after a moment, when Jimmy was out of earshot, Kay said, "He likes you."
"What?" whispered Y/N, flushing red.
Kay spoke slowly. "I can tell. He's flippant with me, never serious. With you, he's careful, like you have a 'fragile' sign written on your forehead. I think he really cares about your feelings."
Did Kay sound....envious? Did she want Jimmy to be careful with her, too, or was she simply making an observation? "He's just more comfortable around you." said Y/N, and she laughed dismissively and sat cross-legged beside the coffee table. "I mean, I only met him today! And, besides, caring about a stranger's feelings is a pretty normal trait."
"Not for the paparazzi, it seems." Kay sighed. "Anyway, so how does it feel, spending the night with Jimmy Fallon?" She did a little dance with her arms.
Y/N laughed. "He's not a god. And I'm not spending the night with him." He sure felt like a god to Y/N, though.
"Yeah, trust me, you stop idolising the man the more you spend time with him. You start realising, not just how he's a regular human being, but how he's an irritating, unhygienic, mothball of one. That's why I get paid to be around him. I highly suggest you set a price."
Y/N's face fell flat, but when she noticed Kay's twinkling smile, she began to laugh.
"I'm joking, of course, he's lovely," said Kay. "He's not only my boss, but my best friend. I've never spent so much time with someone without growing bored or concerningly murderous."
Jimmy's driver bustled through the front door. He was large and muscly, with cropped black hair and a stern face. "I got us Jägermeister and takeout. Y/N, you better like samosas." He glanced at the couch Kay was sat on. "Don't you dare think about taking up that couch tonight, Kay. It's mine."
Jimmy resurfaced holding three cups of coffee. "I smell takeout...and drinks. So much for these coffees, then."
Kay ignored Jimmy. "I dibsed the couch first, Don." Y/N noted his name.
"I don't care. My back's aching from driving all day and my mind needs a rest."
"Go sleep in the bed with Jimmy, then."
"Hey, hey, I don't consent to that," Jimmy chimed in.
"See, he doesn't consent to that!" boomed Don. "I want my own couch."
"Wait, Jimmy's not even sleeping in the bed, this time, anyway," remembered Kay.
"Oh, so the lost puppy is, then?" mocked Don, glaring at Y/N.
"Yes, Y/N is," said Jimmy. "You can sleep in the bathtub, Don."
"Nah, I'm sleeping in the bed with her, then," said Don, nodding his head towards Y/N.
Jimmy glared, and after a moment he said, "Fine! You have the couch with Kay. I'll take the bathtub."
Don grinned. "Kay...we've found his weakness."
