32. Ash's Reborn Story

Chapter 42 Escape from Yureyu

When they get to the top of the building, they see the same black-haired man that Ash met in the Mosswater Industrial, and from what the grunts said, his name is Sirius.

Anna: (Notices the three of them) Ash! Cain! Heather!

Cain: Heyy, we finally made it!

Sirius: (Turns to them) Did no one teach you to knock before entering? This is my private office. I would appreciate due courtesy. (Notices Heather) Did the Doctor falter already? I heard no commotion downstairs.

Ash: He didn't even try. Even if he tries to, he is no match for me since I already beat him.

Sirius: Senile old man. He was the one who wanted to detain the children. I thought we might have had a useful partnership, but he drivels on and on about 'stress response' this and 'traumatic event' that... At least he was good for his employees. That, and... (Turns back to Anna) It's strange, isn't it? We needed only ensnare Ruby, and we caught Amethyst, too.

Ash widens his eyes to see that Sirius is holding the pendant.

Anna: Give me back my pendant! It's- It's the only thing I have left of my father...

Sirius: Your father? (Looks closely at Anna) Ah. I suppose I can see the resemblance.

Anna: You knew my dad?!

Sirius: He was a fool. The unrefined, short-sighted type. The type that history tries too hard to forget.

Ash: (Angry at how he disrespects his father) Don't say things like that!

Sirius: (Confused as to why Ash is angry but decides not to talk about it) Ah, but it is so true. The gems of your ever-so-precious pendant that he gave you- They were not always the brilliant, polished crystal you know. Stones must be cut to be shaped. People are the same. Sometimes the stone breaks if you make the wrong cut. And your father, the miserable, treacherous lout that he was... Well, he was very broken indeed.

Ash manages to connect the dots, and he thinks that the reason why he is broken might be related to how he and his mother was killed for the same Pendant back in the past.

Cain: Heyy buddy, I think you should stop talking and give the girl back her stuff.

Sirius: "Her" stuff. It was ours before she was ever born. This Amethyst Pendant and the Ruby Ring both. You don't have so much as an inkling of their true worth. I will NOT relinquish such items for mere sentimentalities.

Ash: Then we'll just have to make you! Let's go, Cain!

Cain nods as he sends out his Nidoking and Ash goes for Emboar, while Sirius goes for Tyrantrum and Minior. Heather wants to battle as well, but she realizes that her Pokemon is weak because of how she has been fighting Dr. Sigmund. Even though she hates to, she has to let Ash and Cain do the battle.

Tyrantrum goes for Dragon Dance, and then aims for Rock Slide on both Pokemon, but both of them manage to dodge the attack. As for Minior, it goes for Shell Smash to raise its stats, then goes for Dazzling Gleam. But Emboar goes for Arm Thrust, which slams Tyrantrum to the wall, and Cain's Nidoking goes for Shadow Ball, knocking out the Dragon-Type Pokemon.

The third Pokemon for Sirius is a Toucannon, and Minior goes for Power Gem, dealing some damage to Emboar. Emboar goes for Heat Crash, dealing slamming to Toucannon while it is heating up its beak for Beak Blast, and the attack causes Emboar to get knocked out. Ash goes for Pikachu and has it use Discharge, knocking out both Pokemon, but Cain's Nidoking is defeated by Toucannon's Rock Blast.
