Fresh off the plane. I headed to the baggage claim where my mom should be meeting me. Once there I found my luggage but not my mom. I pulled my phone out and messaged her. "Where are you" after a few minutes she responded. "Almost there, Traffic is backed up." I sighed and found the first seat. I started to look around. The airport was large and smelled clean. Paris always smelled like smoke, which is probably why I started smoking in the first place. My father is fine with it but I doubt my mom will be. But I got up and headed outside to have a cigarette anyways. Lighting up, I looked around at the large building and skyscrapers. The business district was just that One large blanket of business offices and skyscrapers, one bigger than the other. Turning to look some more I see that large building with the words Diamonds. "Holy shit." I said taking my sunglasses off. The building is enormous. The word Diamonds is the simple term for Diamandis which i found out was Greek. I could not take my eyes off of it. The annoying sound of a car horn ripped my gaze away. Of course it was my mother.
She jumped out of her car yelling. "Oh my god, look at my beautiful girl." she cried with her arms wide open. I threw my cigarette and greeted her with open arms. "Hello Mom." She cried taking me into her arms and hugging me tight. "Mom you can let go now." I chuckled. "I can't I missed you so much." she said squeezing me tighter. "I missed you too." I snuggled into her. After a moment she finally released me long enough to look at me. "You are more gorgeous than I remember." "I just sent you pictures less than a month ago." "Yes and you have changed since then. You seem more slender." she said grabbing some of my luggage. "Ya well some the routines I was doing was taking a little longer for me to grasp so I had to work extra hard." "Leave it to you Nix's to work harder than you should." she snipped while putting more luggage in the trunk of her SUV. I rolled my eyes and got in the car. She jumped into the drivers seat and we buckled up. "I know you are smoking and all I am going to say is that you have to be 18 to purchase them and you have to smoke outside." she said singling to pull out. "I got a few cartons, that should hold me off, and I will respect the rule, I wasn't aloud to smoke in the house in Paris either. Fran can't take the smell." I said watching the scenery. "Are you hungry? We can stop somewhere." "No I am fine, just tired mostly it was a long flight." I told her. "Well I have a few days off so, lets get home and you can take a nap before lunch." she said smiling. "Sounds good."
The drive was long, but once we got out of the hustle and bustle of the city, everything seemed calmed. She showed my where my school was and that It wont take long to walk there. The stores had name brand items but if I wanted anything better I had to go to town. She continued to talk about her job and the many friends she had made. "I know you will make friends easily here, there are a lot of nice people in this area." "What about the Diamandis's?" She looked at me. "What about them?" "There house is next to yours." "Our house is next to theirs but they give me no problems, and surly don't give them one. I am hardly home to do anything really." she said making a left turn. "This is our road." she said. I instantly saw that large mansion the minute she turned the corner. Once she pulled into the driveway the large fence and stone wall blocked any view. "Come lets get you settled." she smiled again. I looked at her and smiled back.
Grabbing some of my things I followed my mom into the house. The dark Blue siding and white windows made it feel homey. Walking in the staircase was the first thing you seen. The livingroom was to the right and the dining room was to the left. "Your room is upstairs." She said. "Go on up, I will be up shortly." "Where is your room?" "Mine is down here off the kitchen." she pointed. "Go on, I am going to grab the rest of your things." she headed out. I went up the long staircase to any open hallway, opening the door, I gasped. It was very large. The bed was a king size with many pillows. The gray walls had pictures of dancers and me in all my competitions. Trophy's and plaques were are the red shelves. I loved the colors. My desk was filled with pictures of my dad and Fran and one of me and my mom. I will add the ones of my friends from Paris once I settled down. I looked to my right and there was an open space just waiting for me to add my style to it. I set my things on the bed and headed for the french doors with black and white paris curtains for privacy. I opened them and let the fresh cool air feel the room. I walked out onto the balcony. The yard was a decent size but not alot of sunlight due to the monster house which would be my view. I looked down and noticed a sitting area. "So how do you like it?" my mom asked setting my luggage down. "This is fantastic." I smiled. "I knew you would love it." "Not much of a view though." I gestured to the large mansion. "Ya that was the only down fall. Sorry about that." "Is that our sitting area below us?" I asked coming back into the room. "No its theirs but I don't think they use it so it shouldn't be a problem.
"Why are you giving me this room, why not keep it for yourself." I asked grabbing a bag and unpacking it. "Because I love sunlight, and I know a young girl who likes her room dark." my mom smiled. "Although, don't be upset if you see me in your bathroom." she grinned. I smiled and ran in there. It was humongous. "I just had it redone. Crawl foot tub and of course the rain shower head, It does wonders for someone who has aches from dancing." "Mom this is to much." "Oh please I am happy where I am trust me." she continued setting clothes on my dresser. Look why don't you get settled and take a nap. I am going to run to the store and grab a few things." She hugged me and kissed my cheek. "I am so happy you are here." she said with tears in her eyes. "Me too mom, I really am." I told her honestly. She left closing the door behind her. I smiled and looked around. I grabbed my phone and texted my dad letting him know I made it safely, and I am loving my new room. That I miss him and will call him later after I am refreshed. I grabbed a cigarette and headed onto my balcony. Looking around I noticed something behind the tall tree in the neighbors yard. Sure enough the youngest Diamandis was there. He sat down on at the small table and chairs and pulled out his lap top, setting it on the table. I continued to watch him while I smoked. He smelled something and looked up and seen me.
"Hello." he said nicely. "Hello." I answered. "I didn't know someone lived there." He said. "I just got here but my mom has been here for almost a year." I told him. "Interesting, my name is Gabrielle." he introduced. " Mine is Phoenix." I replied. "Interesting name." "Thank you I like it." I said blowing out smoke. "For a minute I thought you was my brother, he smokes to." "Is it bothering you?" I asked. "No, but thank you for asking." I smiled at him. "Where are you from?" he asked. "Paris, France." "Really? What the hell are doing here then?" "My mom got a job here, I was living with my dad but it was time for me to live with her." I answered putting my cigarette out. "Gabrielle!!" I strong voice called I shivered from it. "My asshole brother, sorry to bother you." "You didn't." I told him. "See you around Phoenix." "Au revoir, jeune homme (Good bye young man.) " "What does that mean?" "Look it up," I waved and headed back inside. He smiled. "Shit head why didn't you answer, I have been calling for you." Aries said. "Dude what does Au revoir, jeune homme mean?" "What the hell are you talking about, come on lets go." He said pulling his brother along. "Dude you should see the new girl that just moved in." Gabrielle said to his brother. "Where?" Aries asked as his younger brother followed him in the house. "The house next to us?" He set his lap top down on the stand. "There is just an older lady living there." Aries said walking into the kitchen and grabbing a drink. "Yes, but her daughter who was living in Paris, France just moved in with her, and dude she is hot." Aries laughing choking on his water. "And she was talking to me." Gabrielle smiled largly. "I will be the judge of her hottness." Aries said. "NO Way man I saw her first." Gabrielle snarked "Plus you will only want to get into her pants." "And then you can have her." Aries said slapping her brothers back and walking off.
