Cheater

You're sat with Max, Will, Dustin, El, Mike and Lucas in Mike's basement. The phone rings. Mike answers.

"Y/n it's your girlfriend."

Max gets a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. It happens every time you mention your girlfriend. You go over and take the phone.

"Hey." You say.

"I cheated on you. With Nathan. And i wanna be with him."

Your heart shatters.

"O-oh. Okay.... uhm.... well, i hope you two are happy together and i hope it works out." You say.

"You're not bothered?"

"I am. My hearts just been shattered into a million pieces. But i kinda expected this to happen so... good luck with him."

You put the phone down and just try to comprehend what you've just been told. Max looks at you.

"Y/n?"

They all then look at you.

"I'm gunna go."

You grab your skateboard and run off. You go to the skate park and just sit dangling over the bowl. It was gunna happen sooner or later.

"I'm gunna go find her. She cant be on her own right now." Max says.

"Do you want us to come?" El asks.

Max shakes her head.

"She only talks to me about this stuff." Max says.

Max grabs her board and skates to the park. She sees you sat crying your eyes out. She quickly runs over. You see her. You stand up and just run into her arms. She wraps her arms around you and you just cry. She eventually calms you down and you're both just sat on top of the drop in ramp.

"What happened?"

You tell her everything and she just sighs.

"I'm so sorry." She says.

"Why are you sorry? It's not you that cheated on me." You say.

"I know but i feel horrible." Max says.

"You dont have to feel horrible it's fine."

Max nods.

"I'm gunna tell you something." Max says.

You nod.

"She was never good enough for you."

"Dont you mean-"

"No. She was never good enough for you. You were too good for her. She doesn't deserve someone like you." Max says.

You smile a little.

"Thank you." You say.

"It's fine."

You both just sit. And then she blurts it out.

"I like you"

Your eyes widen and she gasps a little.

"Shit. Sorry. I didnt... well i did but... fuck."

"You like me?"

She nods.

"Yeh...."

"How long for?" You ask.

"About 3 months before you got with her." Max says.

"Why didn't you say anything?" You ask.

"I didn't have enough confidence to tell you and then you got with her." Max says.

"Wow... dude i genuinely had no idea."

"Cos i didn't make it overly obvious." Max says.

You nod.

"I like you too." You say.

"How do you know you like me if-"

"Cos i was dating her to get over you. I didn't know you liked me and i just needed someone to get over you. Then she fucked me over and cheated on me. Not a nice feeling either way." You say.

"How long have you liked me for then?" Max asks.

"Almost a year." You say.

"Wow a whole year?" Max asks.

You nod.

"Not only did i not think you didn't like me but you had a boyfriend. That Daniel guy." You say.

"Oh yeah. I think i started liking you when we broke up. Cos he broke up with me for no reason and you told me exactly what i told you. That he wasn't good enough for me. And, I'm gunna be totally honest, all that came to mind was maybe you're good enough for me. And that's when i started liking you." Max says.

You smile a little.

"Maybe we'd be good for each other." You say.

She smiles a little.

"Maybe. But if you wanna wait until you're over her then we can do that." Max says.

"Nah. Fuck her." You say.

"You wanna be girlfriends now?" Max asks.

"If you wanna be." You say.

Max nods.

"Yeah i do." Max says.

You hold out your hand. She frowns. You roll your eyes and jolt your hand.

"Ohhh."

You do your secret hand shake and then hug. Things definitely got better for you both after that.
