Watching you skate

Max is at the skate park close to her house just learning some new tricks she saw someone do a few days ago. Someone catches her attention. You. You're with your friends. They're hyping you up.

"Dude! It's so fucking high!" You yell.

"You've done higher Y/n! Do it!" Matt says.

"I'm gunna fuckin do it!" You yell.

You're quite high off the ground on a ledge. People gather around the longer you wait. Max walks over. People start chanting.

"Jump. Jump. Jump. Jump. Jump."

You spot Max. Now you have to do it. You take a deep breath and step back. You skate up to the edge and ollie off it. You make it to the other side of the bowl and land it perfectly. The people that were surrounding you cheer for you. Including Max. You cant help but smile. You've genuinely been trying to convince yourself to do this for months.

You jump off your board and climb out the bowl. They all walk over to you and high five you. When you're on your own doin simple tricks, Max skates over.

"That was pretty good. That jump." She says, doing a kickflip onto the rail and grinding across it on the board. Then dropping onto the floor.

"Why thank you. It's taken me months to do it. I've only tried it once. I think if i didn't land it i woulda died." You say.

She laughs.

"Maybe. You never know." Max says.

You laugh.

"You're too good to not land that though." Max says.

You let out a chuckle.

"Why thank you. Would you ever try something like that?" You ask.

"Fuck no." Max says.

You laugh which causes her to laugh.

"Yeah i dont blame you. I only grew the balls to do it cos there was a crowd of people." You say.

"Yeah that makes sense." Max says.

You get an idea.

"Show me your best trick." You say.

"Best trick? It's kinda basic." Max says.

"Skateboarding cannot be basic unless it's an Ollie. Show me your best and I'll show you mine." You say.

"Okay."

She skates up to the rail and nolie's onto it, nose-grinding down it and then kickflips off it. Landing safely.

"Nice. That was cool." You say.

"Show me your best then." Max says.

You take a semi-long run cos your trick requires speed. You kickflip onto the rain and your board goes straight. You move onto handstand on the board. Max stands a little impressed. Then, with your hands, heelflip off the rail and jump in the air. Then you land on the board. Max stands dazed.

"Wow. That was- wow." She says.

"I shit you not, that's the first time I've landed that one. I've spent like 3 years banging my face on the floor tryna get a handstand on the board." You say.

"Well in that case."

She applauds you causing you to laugh. You bow and she smiles.

"You wanna dip?" You ask.

"Yeah why not."

You both grab your bags and jump on your boards. You skate off together.

"Where do you wanna go?" You ask.

"I'm not entirely bothered." Max says.

"Well we could always just skate around." You say.

You both just skate around for a solid 2 hours together. Just enjoying being in one another's company. You both eventually decide on going home. Not before you get each other's phone numbers. You're definitely gunna talk later.
