Chapter 11

Sawyer POV

After meditating, i retreated up to my room. I laid in my bed, thinking about having to talk to someone. Alex said I'll like her, but I highly doubt it. Anyone trying to pry me open to spill my deepest, darkest secrets is not anyone I will like.

And what is this reading specialist bullshit? Can't I just do it at home? I know I'm behind, but at school? I better just get used to being tormented. I sigh and my phone buzzes. Emily texted me.

Emily: Hey, so uh, WHERE ARE YOU?

Me: chill. I'm at my bonus family. I had a rough night and because Liz is gone, they have me here. No school for me today, but I'll be back tomorrow.

Emily: You're okay? I was worried when you didn't show up.

I smiled.

Me: yeah I'm okay..I'll be at practice tomorrow. You might meet bonus family on Saturday at our game.

I haven't told Emily who they are, she definitely will know as soon as she sees them and I'm not ready for everyone knowing..

Emily: Okay. Awesome! Call me if you need me.

Me: k

I push myself up from my bed and head downstairs. "Alex?"

She turns around along with Serv, "Oh you're both here," I chuckle.

They smile, "What's up?"

"Uh, I have a game on uh Saturday if you guys want to come? You don't have to, but you haven't gotten to see one yet and I think it'd be cool and Charlie would love it and-"

Alex walks up to me with Serv, "Hey we'd love to. What time Saturday?"

"Uh I think 2? But I'll double check at practice tomorrow."

They nod, "We will make it work."

I nod to myself, "O-Oh cool."

As I say that, I hear the front door open and close, and squeals from Charlie. Confused, I turn around and see a girl in her twenties holding Charlie's hand. "Uh-hi?" I say unsure as I turn to look at Alex and Serv. Alex's eyes widen, "Oh yeah, you haven't been here during the week...this is Kate, Charlie's nanny that helps out sometimes when Charlie isn't at preschool." I nod slowly, "Got it." 

Charlie breaks free and runs to me, "Sawyer! Can we go in the pool?" The girl looks at me, "I feel like I know you because this one chatters all day about you. She's been dying to come home and ask you to go swimming." I chuckle, "Welp Charlie, you're in luck, I'd love to go swimming."

She cheers, "Yay! Kate I need my swimsuit!"

"I got you, Charlie, let's go." 

I watch them go and smile to myself, Charlie has really become important to me, like a sis-. I stop my thoughts. I shake my head and go to walk away.

"You okay?" I look up to see Alex and Serv staring at me. "Uh, yeah. I'm fine."

"Remember, Rachel at 530 and I want to talk to you about that beforehand."

I sigh and look at the clock, 3PM. "Kay,"

Alex POV

I watch Sawyer walk away. "Do you want me to talk to her about Rachel? Maybe my ground rules will resonate more with her." I look at Serv, "Maybe both of us?" "Teamwork makes the dream work babe." I laugh at his phrase. 

I watch as Charlie runs out to the pool with Kate chasing after her. Shortly after, I see Sawyer walk out and head to the pool. I look at how skinny she is, but I know she eats. I swear she's always hungry; I'm interested in what Bree says about her current medication.
