Alex POV

I wake up and stretch, realizing that I'm alone in bed. 'Ah, no kids, no husband, just silence.'

I think about how Serv and I may really have to beat girls off with a stick when it comes to Sawyer. We really need to meet this Makena girl and see for ourselves who she is.

I'm constantly worrying about Sawyer. Charlie is still so young, the most I have to worry about is whether she shared her toys or not, which more often than not, is that she didn't. She only really shares with Sawyer.

With Sawyer, it's huge things. It's girls, it's emotions, it's schoolwork, it's self-esteem, and a multitude of other things.

I hear whispering and the door creak open, then feet padding on the floor. I close my eyes and pretend to be asleep because I know it's Sawyer and Charlie.

I feel Sawyer set Charlie on the bed and they both crawl so they're snuggled up right next to me. "Momma! Wake up! It's time to wake up!" Charlie squeals. I then feel Sawyer burrow her head into my chest.

"Good morning, my babies." "Morning, momma! We brought food!"

"Breakfast in bed? What did I do to deserve this?" I say.

"Just being the best momma ever." Sawyer says.

I laugh, "Well that's an easy job with you two."

"That was cheesy, momma." I smile.

"Alright, what do we have here?" I hear Serv ask.

I sit up and smile, "I think you already know babe. Because these two cannot operate the stove unsupervised."

I start eating while Sawyer and Charlie run off to go play. "Thanks babe."

"It really was all them, I just supervised. They wanted to do something nice."

"I have to go to the facility just for a last minute meeting, you going to be okay with them?"

He nods, "So we didn't get to talk last night."

"Sawyer likes this girl. Babe, we really are going to have to beat them off, like she's not even trying and two girls already!" He laughs.

"I guess this girl, Makena, was mad about what Emily did too. First she asked her on a date, but Sawyer told her she can't date, which I reiterated. She said she talked to Christen and Tobin and that they kinda helped her see that yes, she cannot date, but that she can use this as an opportunity to learn about herself, to communicate, be upfront. And maybe something will happen when she's ready? Makena told her it was okay that she couldn't date, that she was okay hanging with her. She called her ADHD a superpower. Sawyer is really excited about it." I say.

Serv sighs, "Well at least this girl seems understanding and it's good that Sawyer was upfront with her. But we have to be like monitoring."

"I agree. I thought I saw them holding hands on the boardwalk when I pulled up. She's cute, Makena that is. Our girl has taste. She's tan, blonde, fit, I mean, she's like a total southern California surfer girl."

"And how old is this southern California surfer girl?" He asks.

"15."

I hear a knock on the door, "Momma? Pops?"

"Come in, Sawyer."

"Hi, baby."

"Hi. Uh question?" She asks.

I wait for her to continue, "Can um, can Makena come to the game tomorrow with us? It's just we're leaving on Wednesday and I'm not going to get to hang with her again until we get back from Mexico. And she wants to meet you guys and Maverick."
