Chapter 60

Alex POV

I groan when I hear my phone ringing.

I lift my head off of the pillow and look at the clock, 3AM.

I grab my phone, Jeri.

"Jeri?"

"Al, hey, I'm so sorry I-"

"Want to talk to momma!!" I hear Sawyer sobbing.

I sit up and turn my bedside table on.

"Jeri? What's going on?"

"Sawyer, you have to calm down, you're all worked up."

I look at my phone and push FaceTime, which quickly connects.

Sawyers on the floor next to her bed, Maverick on top of her. She's squeezing her head and crying.

"Kid, look who's on FaceTime. Just calm down." Jeri says.

"Baby, just deep breaths. You want to get back in bed? Does your head hurt?"

"It's a hammer in my head!" She cries.

"Okay. You're okay. Back in bed, Just listen to my voice."

I watch as Jeri brings some ibuprofen and she takes it.

"Okay, back to sleep, yeah?" She nods tiredly.

"Okay, I'll stay on." I watch as her eyes flutter and finally close.

I sigh, "Sorry Al, I tried to avoid calling you, but she just wouldn't settle."

I sigh and rub my face, "It's okay, she had a nightmare?"

Jeri shakes her head, "She woke up because her head hurt and she just escalated, yelling that she wanted you."

I nod, "Okay. Well she seems settled now. Hopefully she will sleep until morning. Let me know if you need anything. She can call when she wakes up."

"Alright, I'm going to sleep with her. Night Al."

"Night." I hang up and stare at my phone.

'Ugh, I miss her.'

I place my phone on the nightstand and slowly drift back off to sleep.

"Momma, time to wake up!!"

I smile, "Morning Charlie!"

"Morning momma! Call Sawyer?" She asks.

I nod, "Let's get ready and call her at breakfast."

"Kay momma, get ready fast!" She scrambles up and I chuckle.

"You miss your sister, baby?"

She nods rapidly while I peel her pajamas off.

"Miss Sawyer lots, momma."

I sigh, "Me too baby, two more days."

I quickly change her and set her up with the iPad and get changed myself.

"Alright, Charlie, let's go!" I say.

We head downstairs and get to the breakfast room.

Once I gather some food, we head to a table with Taylor, Kelsey, and Naomi.

"Hey."

"Hi, how's Sawyer?" Taylor asks.

"About to find out. Charlie, let's call Auntie Jeri."

She gives me the iPad and I quickly FaceTime Jeri.

"Hey sis and Charlie!" Jeri answers.

"Hi, where Sawyer?" Charlie asks leaning in closer to the camera.
