Chapter 81

Alex POV - July 21st

I stare at Sawyer who's sitting on the floor in front of the door, crying and yelling with Mav next to her trying to calm her down.

'What the hell am I supposed to do?'

"Just go, babe. We will manage her, get her calm and head to the stadium." Serv says.

I turn and look at him, "I didn't think that she'd be so upset about not being on the bus, but I guess I should've known."

He sighs, "She's just used to the routine of game day. Just go, you're going to be late."

"Yeah sis, we've got this." Jeri says.

I let out a breath, "Yeah, okay."

I kneel down in front of Sawyer who is so upset.

"I want to go, momma! This is the routine, it hasn't changed - we go on the bus and we hang in the locker room and then we go up!"

I shake my head, "Sawyer? It's different, and I hear you that you're upset, but I have to go. I'll see you after the game, yeah?"

She looks up and tears run down her cheeks, "No! That's not-it's not-no!"

I nod, "Yeah baby, I love you. You're going to chill out with pops and auntie jeri then come to the stadium."

My phone starts ringing and I see that it's Kelley.

"I have to go, baby. You're okay, you just need to calm down and then you're coming."

I stand up and watch as the frustration keeps building.

"NO! This is fucking stupid, momma! You're not leaving!"

"Come on baby, you gotta move." Serv says.

He bends down and moves her, "Stop, pops! Stop!"

I quickly open the door and slip out then hear a thud against it.

I let out a breath and my phone rings again.

I pick it up, "I'm coming."

I hang it up and wait for the elevator when I hear the door open, "Momma!"

The elevator doors open and I go to step in when I hear a hotel door slam open and barking, "Sawyer!"

My eyes widen and the elevator doors close.

I pull up my dad's contact and hit it.

"Hi honey."

"Hey. Can you go to the room and help Serv and Jeri? Sawyer is a mess." I say quickly.

"Yeah honey, your mom has Charlie."

"Great. Thanks."

I hang up and reach the lobby, quickly making my way on the bus.

"Sorry, coach." I say and sit next to Taylor, leaning my head back.

"Alex." I open my eyes and look at Taylor.

"Sawyer, okay?" She asks.

I shake my head, "No and I feel like the worlds worst mom for leaving her mid-meltdown."

She frowns, "You're not. She will calm down."

I sigh, "It's my fault, I should've talked to her about the change, but I didn't think it'd be this earth shattering thing and I just didn't have time and-"

I feel a hand on my shoulder, "Hey. It's not your fault. You're not perfect, shit happens."

I nod, "When did you get so smart?"
