Sawyer POV

"Sawyer. Saaaaawyer."

I look up and stare at Bree.

She sighs, "Kid, you've been silent for a week. Your family is worried."

I shrug. I haven't talked to anyone except Rachel when I'm doing my work. I know it's worrying everyone, but if I open my mouth, my emotions are going to run wild and my thoughts will scare momma and pops.

She sighs, "Can't force you to talk, but you'll feel better."

I play with the fidget in my hands and look at Maverick.

His big brown eyes also look worried and he sets his head in my lap.

I've been getting by with non-verbal responses and stare out at the training pitch in Orlando.

I watch momma get a pass then a collision with someone.

I immediately jump up and start towards her as I see trainers surrounding her.

"Sawyer!" I hear being yelled but I keep moving.

I get closer but feel someone grab me, I turn and see it's Taylor and try to get out of her grip.

"Hey. Let them help her out. I'm sure she's fine." She says.

I struggle against her grip when Bree comes into my view.

Maverick jumps up on me and I reach down to pet him.

"Hey kid, look, she's up and walking, okay? I know you're protective, but she's okay."

I lean around her and see momma limping towards me with the trainers.

"What's going on?" Momma asks.

I just look down.

"Sawyer here was worried about you." Bree says.

She gets to me and I look up, "I'm okay baby. Just a knock."

I let out a breath and nod then turn and head back to the sidelines.

I sit and Maverick crawls into my lap, "Hi boy. I'm okay." I whisper.

Alex POV

I walk gingerly to the bench and sit down and answer the questions from the trainers.

I look up and find Sawyer who's sitting in the grass with Maverick. I can see her talking to Maverick and petting him.

'Wish she'd talk to more than Maverick and Rachel.'

"Hey, you good?"

I turn and see Bree. "Not sure, felt some pain, so we will see."

She nods, "Sawyer was about to pound whoever took you down. She was worried."

"Did she talk to you?" I ask.

She shakes her head, "No. She will though to someone. Just be patient. Good call on leaving Charlie home for this trip, I think she needs the one on one attention from you."

I nod, "I thought so too. I've seen her writing, but she hasn't shown me anything. She's just sad and I don't know how to fix it."

"I know. I know something happened that night at the party. She will talk about it, just keep being patient."

I sigh, "Okay."

"Alright Alex, you definitely sprained your knee a bit. So probably not going to go tomorrow, not that you can't. If you want to play, we can talk to Casey, but might be best to rest."
