Alex POV
I'm packing up my bag when I see my phone ring, Christen.
"Hey Press! How's recovery?"
"Hey! It's great actually. Moving along." She says.
"You'll be back in no time. So to what do I owe this phone call?"
"Well...I know you're going to camp this week, and Tobin's been asking, literally like a little kid if Sawyer can come to LA for the weekend since she's coming down."
I chuckle, "I think her and Sawyer have been scheming because Sawyer's been asking too. I think that'd be alright, she's been doing good at school, keeping it together. We could bring her up or meet you guys. I'm not really ready to put her on the train from here to LA..."
"Tobin really is a child herself so scheming doesn't surprise me. Okay, great!! We could meet you guys in OC and then Sawyer has no school Monday right?" She asks.
"Right. It'll just be Serv you meet. Charlie and I will be in KC."
"Awesome, let's figure out the details! Tobin will be happy..but also I feel like I'm going to be watching two teenagers."
"You will be. Alright, we will talk. Bye Chris!"
I hang up and see Sawyer come inside looking frustrated and pushing Mav down behind her.
"What's wrong baby?" I ask her and see Rachel coming inside behind her, shaking her head. "Not being flexible." She mouths and I nod.
"Momma! Rachel isn't being fair! She said-" She yells.
"Hey." I calmly cut her off.
She stops and takes a deep breath. "Don't come in and start yelling, baby. So, want to try again?"
"She saaaaaid that I only had one more thing to do, but then she forgot I had to do this other worksheet! Momma, that's not fair. She said I just had one thing and I did it!" She says getting upset.
I sigh, "Sawyer. Is it a big deal that you have to do it? You still have...10 minutes of allotted time with Rachel. So you'd be getting done early, right?"
She nods, "Yeah! And I'd have extra switch time!"
"So if you just go do the worksheet that has..."
Rachel holds up five fingers.
"Five problems on it, you could still be done early, yeah?"
She stares at me and shrugs, "Maybe?"
"I think you can. But instead, you're being inflexible and wasting your time. We have to be flexible. People forget things, okay? We have to, what's the phrase Bree uses?" I ask her.
"Go with the flow." She mumbles then groans and turns to walk back outside.
"Thanks." Rachel says and follows her.
No more than fives minutes later, she walks in with the vest on and goes to the living room with Maverick looking irritated, but less frustrated.
Rachel comes in with her things and smiles, "Thanks. None of the normal ideas were working. She just bolted to find you."
I sigh, "The flexible thing is hard. She hates change or unexpected change, really."
"She did good otherwise, she's moving on up. 7th grade reading level, here we come so long as she passes the fluency test tomorrow. She only gets frustrated when she tries to rush through stuff, but she wants to read Harry Potter for her book, which I'm a little nervous about. But if it's what motivates her, then we can try." She says.
