Chapter 42

Alex POV

On the bus to the game, I pull an earbud out of Sawyer's ear.

"Music off for a second, baby."

She nods and looks at me, "I'm listening, momma."

"Okay, you have to, Sawyer, HAVE to let Kate or papa know when you need some input. Okay? Don't wait until it's a 9 or 10, try to read your cues when you're less over-stimulated, yeah? Listen to Mav when he cues you. Alright? You can pace, you can jump, ask for joint compression, snack, just whatever to help stay regulated."

She nods, "Okay momma."

I kiss her head, "Love you baby. You guys can come down for a little bit but then you're going up to the suite."

She nods and puts her earbuds back in.

We get to the stadium and walk inside and down to the locker room. Charlie and Sawyer take off with Pinoe and some others probably make TikToks and get into trouble, but I don't mind if it means Sawyer is having fun.

I sit in my locker and scroll through my photos and smile. These qualifiers are going to be different, I feel good and know I'm going to score.

I get a text and look down.

Dad: Hey I'm in the suite. Where are my grand babies?

I smile.

Me: I'll send them up. Love you, dad.

Dad: love you too baby. Go get 'em.

"Charlie! Sawyer! Guess who's up in the suite?"

Charlie puts her finger on her chin and Sawyer stands next to her. I snap a photo of them when Sawyer points upward, "It's papa!! It's papa, Charlie!"

They turn to go, but I stop them.

"Wait, I need high fives, fists, hugs, and kisses."

They run over and each give me a high five, fist bumps, kiss, and a hug.

"Ugh, love you my babies." I yell.

"Love you, momma!" They yell while running out, Maverick with Sawyer.

"That might be top three cutest thing I've ever seen. And I captured it on video." I turn and see Sonnett.

I smile, "Being a mom is the best. Also, send that to me."

Sawyer POV

The game is in the first half and I'm sitting next to papa watching closely. In the 16th minute, I watch as momma does this ridiculous flick on and scores.

"Goal! Goal papa! Charlie, momma scored!!"

Charlie and I watch as she does the heart and we do it back.

I can't sit back down after that and bounce up and down. I watch as auntie Kelley puts a cross in and momma scores again.

"Sawyer! Momma did it again, she did it again!"

"She did Charlie! So awesome! Papa, she's on fire!"

"She is baby! You okay?" He says.

I nod, "Just, can I go walk?"

"I'll go, you stay with Charlie, Mike." Kate says.

"You want your vest?" She says and I look down to see Maverick looking at me intently.

I nod, "Yeah, feeling amped."

We go for a walk and I peek to see the whistle blow for the half. I notice Alex looking up at our suite.
