Sawyer POV
I wake up and see my phone sitting next to me. I sigh because I wish I was at Alex and Serv's.
I get up and do my routine, including a shower, and get dressed. I then grab my stuff and head downstairs.
"Morning, Sawyer!" I hear Liz say.
"Morning." "Tired?" I nod, "I woke up at 2AM, couldn't get back to sleep, called Alex." Her eyes widen, "Why didn't you come get me?" I shrug. "I just wanted to hear her voice."
She places some waffles down in front of me plus my medication. "You feel okay on these meds?" I nod and shrug.
I see Mackenzie and Ash come down and sit at the table. I stare at my food, when Liz nudges me.
I sigh, "Fine." I mumble. "Ash, Mackenzie?" They look at me, "I'm really sorry about yesterday. I-i was upset because I didn't want to leave the Carrasco's and I was upset at Liz. I took it out on you."
Mackenzie stares at me, and holds up her fist, I bump it, "It's okay dude." "Yeah, Sawyer, it's okay, I get it."
I go to grab my backpack and board, but Liz stops me. "Hey, have a good day at school. Okay? Be good. Come home straight after practice, Rachel is coming at 5:30." I whine. "Oh, stop. You knew she was coming, don't act surprised. Stay out of trouble."
I give her a thumbs up and head out the door. I feel my phone vibrate and pull it out. It's a picture of Charlie, covered in pancake batter. "She thought making you pancakes would make you come home. We miss you. Have a good day. Be good."
I smile and sigh. I text her back, "Wish I could be there too. tell her Hi. Will try to be."
I pocket my phone and head off to school on my board.
I skate up to the school and stare at it. 'I don't want to go in there.'
I turn to leave and hear, "Sawyer, I know you're not about to do what I think you're about to do." I freeze and sigh hearing Rachel's voice.
"I figured I'd meet you at the front, glad I chose to do so. Ready?"
I shake my head. "Come on, it won't be so bad."
"It will..." I mumble.
"Let's do three checks and then we can take a break?"
I sigh and nod. I follow her into the school and see Ben who's smirking at me and Emily.
I put my head down and walk faster. "Sawyer, slow down, where's the fire?"
"Nowhere, just want to go." I watch her stop and turn around, then keep walking.
I reach the resource room and throw my bag by my table and throw myself into my chair with a groan.
Rachel hands me the iPad. I look at her confused. "There's an app on there I want you to do to match blended sounds. I'm setting a timer, you'll do it for 15 minutes."
I just stare at her. "Come on, Sawyer."
I put my arms on the table and set my head on top, shaking it, tears welling up in my eyes.
She looks at me for a second then walks over to her desk.
I close my eyes, trying to get a grip. I hear Rachel on the phone, but then I hear another voice.
I feel a hand on my shoulder and open my eyes.
Alex is smiling sadly at me on FaceTime, "Hi, baby."
I just stare at her. She sighs, "What's wrong?"
