Chapter 41: Reasons

Malaya's POV

I'm currently at my room, with Viya sleeping on my bed. Sad, confused and worried, that's what I'm feeling right now. Sad dahil sa pag-alis ni Gael. Confused sa inakto ni Avi and worried at the same time. Her last words was I'll do what I can do. What does she mean by that? Pinuntahan ba n'ya si Gael? 'Cause she asked where she is. Dapat yata sumama ako sakan'ya o pinigilan ko s'ya.

It's been hours at hindi pa s'ya bumabalik. Gabi na rin. And I want to check for her but I don't know how. Wala akong number n'ya.

Someone texted.

From Niks:
Watch news, dali

Right, news. I'm sure nasa balita ngayon si Gael. Atleast I will be inform what happened to her, kung nakaalis na ba talaga s'ya nang safe.

Saktong-sakto sa pagkabukas ko, Gael is at the middle or these reporters, nakatutok ang mga microphone sa kan'ya. Halatang naiirita na s'ya dahil nasa labas palang s'ya ng airport.

"Gael, bakit bigla kang aalis ng bansa? Hindi ba may movie pa kayo ni Free?"

Expected na itatanong nila 'yan. Nakausap ko kanina ang director. Cancelled na muna ang movie namin, hindi ko alam kung kailan matutuloy. Kung makahanap siguro ng artista na pwedeng pumalit sa kan'ya.

"Gael, totoo bang hiwalay na kayo ni Free kaya pupunta ka ng America?" What? Hindi nga kami dating. Ano ba naman 'tong mga 'to. Saan ba nila nakukuha 'yan?

"Can you fucking step out my way?! Fuck!" A familiar voice shouted. Biglang pumasok ang isang pamilyar ding babae. Avi... I know s'ya 'ya dahil 'yan ang suot n'ya nang manggaling s'ya rito.

She really went to the airport? Matapos n'yang sumigaw ay sumiksik s'ya sa mga reporter at hinila si Gael papasok sa airport. Doon na naputol ang video, hindi na yata pinapasok sa loob ang mga reporters.

What is she doing there? I have Gael's so I texted her. Paano nalang kung masangkot s'ya sa gulo? I can still remember that she slapped Gael on our graduation night. If she'll cause trouble, paniguradong pag-iinitan s'ya ng fans ni Gael.

To Gael:
Mag-isa ka lang pumunta ng America, right?

From Gael:
yeah but guess what your crazy ex came to the airport requesting me to stay hahaha

Damn. She really did it? 'Yon 'yong sinasabi n'yang she'll do what she can do. Hindi ba n'ya alam na baka madawit s'ya sa issue dahil sa ginawa n'ya?

To Gael:
Where did she go after that?

From Gael:

Nakakainis. I don't have Avi's number. Hindi ko alam pa'no ko s'ya macocontact. I just want to know where she is, I'm kind of worried now.

As if on cue, may unknown number na tumawag. I don't usually entertain random callers pero iba kutob ko rito kaya sinagot ko agad.

Nailayo ko rin agad ang cellphone ko sa tenga ko, ang ingay sa kabilang linya. Parang nasa lugar na maraming tao? Bar?

"Hello? Who's this?" Nilakasan ko pa ang boses ko para marinig ako ng tumatawag. My heart starts to pound rapidly.

"I'm sorry.." the voice cracks. With just two words, I already know who's the caller. Fuck, si Avi 'to. Sigurado ako. Isa pang isipin kung paano n'ya nalaman ang phone number ko but I decided to set it aside, hindi na mahalaga 'yon ngayon.

"Hello?! Avi? Ikaw ba 'yan? Where are you?!" I bombard her with questions. It's stressing me out dahil ang tagal n'yang sumagot. "Nasa'n ka?!"

"I'm sorry, Malaya.." her shaking voice makes me worry more. "I'm sorry.. I was a wreck before, I don't know what I'm doing.. I'm so sorry, baby.." My heart melts. After her last word, I heard her sob. Palakas nang palakas ang hikbi n'ya and I'm dying now! I want to fucking now where she is.
