Dreams
I don't remember it that well, but I do recall it having to do with me getting my clothes tailored and getting ready for a big and fancy dinner party.
Good morning!
I'm back in the routine, but I did not sleep well last night.
All I kept thinking about was chocolate.
Saying "no" to myself, especially for sugan and ESPECIALLY on my period was extremely difficult. I was so tempted to just get out of bed, rummage for my box of chocolates, and scarf one down...
But I didn't, because I knew it would only leave me feeling guilty afterwards.
Let's give me a round of applause for not giving in.
Now that I've got past the starting point, it'll be much easier to keep myself disciplined.
Especially since Molly, my friend and roommate for Dance Camp is also similar to me in terms of achieving a healthy lifestyle, it'll be nice to go through the journey with a friend for four days.
Who knows? Maybe this is the catalyst I need to keep myself going.
Daily Dose of Happiness
"All who joy would win must share it--happiness was born a twin." -Lord Byron
Today I shared my joy with...
Honestly, I never thought I'd ever see this day, but maybe... Ana?
I was able to find a good, authentic Japanese place for dinner. We got takeout since we were quite busy today and couldn't go out.
The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! THE BEST JAPANESE FOOD I'VE EVER TASTED! Ana loved it too, which is rare when it comes to eating out. She ALWAYS finds something to complain about.
I got chicken teriyaki, which came with rice, soup, and salad.
You'd think that's enough food to last you for a week...
BUT
Everything is in small, bite-sized portions.
Having Asian roots, that's just how we work.
Even though I'm Latino, my mother grew up with her Japanese grandmother and was accustomed to their traditions.
Honestly, I've always had an affinity for Japanese culture, in addition to British.
Specifically, the food culture, that's why obesity levels in Japan are less than 6%.
Here in the U.S., it's like half of our population.
The Japanese know what they're doing, and I can incorporate their healthy lifestyle into my own.
MAKE IT MY OWN.
I'm going to look up traditional/authentic dishes for every meal.
Figure how to eat a little bit of everything, while hitting all essential nutrients.
Even though I'm craving chocolate right now, I know I'm not going to eat it, because I feel so full and satisfied, but not overstuffed and unable to move.
I can feel myself getting skinnier already.
That's what I'll do.
And I'm sure Ana can assist in the cooking process.
We have Chinese bowls sitting in the cupboards gathering dust.
We just need to wash them and use them.
We'll have a small bowl of soup and/or salad with every meal, and have the main course be on a small dish, in its small proportion.
We'll also use chopsticks to consume our foods.
Now, I just have to apply these things to the cafeteria food we will be served at dance camp.
I REALLY hope the cafeteria meals are buffet-style, or else I'll forever be known as the boy that gave the lunch workers a difficult time.
