I took a LOOOOOOOOOONG hiatus (and obviously fell out of routine).
School definitely kicked my butt during the last week and even though I hadn't finished with All A's like I wanted to (long story short, I got a C+ on my AP Bio final and it dropped my grade to a B), I'm still proud of how well I've performed in a class that I've hated with a burning passion.
So why did I take it?
Unfortunately, Ana and Patrick only believe that practical jobs, such as a doctor, lawyer, or engineer get you anywhere in life and that the whole point of life is to become rich and successful (but more rich than successful).
While everyone else was able to follow that philosophy and (at least) appear to enjoy their practical, popular demanding careers, I'm going to be the first person in my family to go after my dreams...
Moving to the UK, becoming a film director and famous YouTuber, and opening Loud Studios.
They may have been able to brainwash my cousins, but they WILL NOT BRAINWASH ME!
Thank science, it's finally summer!
You may also be thinking "Carson-Nathan, school ended like almost two weeks ago, why didn't you come back sooner?"
I decided to take the week off to get my life back together and establish my goals for the summer (next page).
I also made a big oopsie during my hiatus as well. I promised my YouTube subscribers a Q & A video (I hit 100 SUBSCRIBERS last week) but never went through with it. I also didn't bother to let my subscribers know that I was going to take a hiatus.
Now I've been living with that guilt for the past three days.
I've had a few sleepless nights. Last light, I went to bed at 4 AM! However, with this reset of my glow-up journey, I hope that I can get back on track.
I hope Past and Future me gave you good company during my hiatus.
Even though it was wrong of me to not communicate with my fans, taking a hiatus has its benefits. I was able to organise my electronic devices and my space and reset them. I feel much more prepared to accomplish my summer goals.
YOUR TASK: Feel free to take a hiatus. It doesn't have to be for a week; It could be
My mental health has worsened over the years mostly thanks to the Ramoses/Rupps, and since they don't believe in medications, I've had to learn to deal with it on my own. It's been challenging at times, and I wish I had access to medicine, but at the same time, my character is built through the challenges I've faced.
My Summer 2021 Goals
Train myself to get quicker (better manage ADHD)
Train my work/life balance (better manage anxiety, depression, and stress)
Take the July ACT and achieve a score of 36.
Get my driver's license (Ana and Patrick are FINALLY letting me.)
Figure out how university admissions work
Make another short film or create a series
Reality shifting (will explain this at a later date)
Get back into bullet journalling
As you can see, I've got a lot to achieve this summer, however, some of these goals are so small to the point of only requiring a simple internet search, such as university admissions. Others are more complex, such as my mental health and work/life balance training.
Here's how things are going to work from now on: Even though it's summertime, I will still be adhering to my school schedule for training purposes. Even when I return to in-person schooling next year, I will continue to wake up at 5:30, and complete a more compact (I should say) morning routine. In terms of weekends, they'll be flexible, since, during the school year, I have more time during those days. However, I'll keep the morning and night routines the same, in order to avoid falling out of routine. Since my weekends differ every week, I'll allow wiggle room during the day for my events and study around them. I've kept the classes that I'm able to prepare for (ahem...dual enrollment, AP, Cooper NOW) the same, but for the ones I couldn't (English IV Honors, Anatomy/Physiology Honors) I've replaced them with ACT prep, filmmaking/YouTube creating, and YouTube Creator Academy time (I do this every summer). In order to track what I'm able to complete within the 50-minute class period, I will keep the work documented in a notebook, marked by date, with the goal of accomplishing one more page (etc.) per class. Learn it once, learn it forever, in the shortest amount of time.
Daily Dose of Happiness:
"The happiest of all lives is a busy solitude" -Voltaire
How my busy solitude made me happy today:
Organising and decluttering my filing cabinet and backpack. (Yes, I still haven't done that yet.)
Honestly, I finished a lot quicker than I expected to. It felt nice talking this week and a half long reset in order to get myself back on track. I'm going to meditate for my anxiety. It's getting late. See you tomorrow!
