Whilst Kili, Fili and I were having our conversation I peered up to see Bilbo looking as pale as a ghost, puffing out air from between his lips. All Bilbo could wheeze was "nope" before he collapsed onto the floor with a thump. "Father!" I pushed my way around the crowded dining room, flooded with chairs and dwarves around the table before fell to my knees beside my father.

"What happened to him?" I pressed the back of my hand to his head and was thankful that he wasn't overheating. "He was overwhelmed by the contract!" Bofur shook his head "I only told his to think furnace with wings. Works every time, well that's what I thought." Balin elbowed Bofur. "Don't worry laddie," Balin assured me "He's only fainted." I rolled my eyes as I gestured over to Bofur and Dori "It's fine, he's always been a fainter. C'mon, help me bring him into the fireplace; in his armchair." With the help of the dwarves we moved Bilbo into his armchair and I lit the fireplace before brewing a cup of tea.

I sat opposite Bilbo in my own armchair as I waited in silence. I rubbed my eyes that were hazy from the ale I'd consumed as Bilbo began to stir and eventually woke "Father, are you okay?"
"Yes, i'm fine. Thank you, Jules," I smiled as I presented the tea in my hands "Oo thank you very much." The room was silent in the dim lit room, illuminated by fireplace, accompanied by the low talking of the dwarves still roaming around the hobbit hole.

We had finally gained a moment of peace so I thought this would be the perfect moment to ask Bilbo about the adventure. "Father?" The fire crackled behind me and the heat hit the back of my neck. "Yes?" I already could tell he knew what I was about to ask by the irritation in his flat tone. I gulped before asking "Can I go with the dwarves to Erebor? You know this is all i've ever wanted."
"I hardly expected you've always wanted to travel across middle earth with a bunch of poor mannered dwarves and one mad wizard," Bilbo turned to Gandalf and thinned his lips "No offence."

"Oh, none taken." Gandalf dismissed Bilbo. "Father," I continued to push "I trust the dwarves. I believe they will keep me safe." Bilbo starred at me with concern. "Gandalf," Bilbo turned to the wizard in his seat "Can you guarantee that we will come back?" Gandalf was silent for a moment, thinking carefully before he answered.
"No. And if you do...you will not be the same."

"Right. Well, that's what I thought. I'm sorry Juliette but I cannot let you go. I'm sorry." My shoulders sulked as I heard his answer "My safety is never guaranteed," I argued "no matter where you are. That's the challenge of life. Please Father, I beg of you. You've always known that I want nothing more than see the world. I can't go on with my life knowing that i've missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime. Please." I looked up at his with big eyes, hoping they will help change his mind.

"And how could I go on with my life if something happened to you?" He accidentally snapped which made him reel back. I blinked before shrugging "I don't know, but you're never gonna find out," I brought my face closer with a smirk on my face "I'm gonna live forever."
"Why do I not doubt that," Bilbo couldn't help but chuckle lightly "You've always been a stubborn hobbit. And I don't have to wonder where you got that from."
"The combined power of my mother and especially, my father." We smiled together.

My hope returned when I saw him debating his thoughts; the cogs twisting and turning inside his head before the word I least expected escaped his mouth "Fine," I sprung to my feet in excitement "But, you have to swear to me that you will stay come home." My face dropped as fast as it rose. "You're not coming?"
"No, I will not." He shook his head. "Why?"
"I'm a Baggins, us Baggins do not go on adventures and reclaim kingdoms." He pointed. "I am also a Baggins." I stood up. Bilbo was about to argue back until Gandalf spoke.

"You forget Master Baggins, that you are a Took as well as a Baggins." Gandalf began to persuade Bilbo by sharing the past of his ancestors so I left them alone and went to find Balin in order to confirm my spot with the company. I dashed through the hobbit hole, once I spotted a familiar white haired hobbit in the dining room, writing on parchment by a candle.

"Good evening, young lass. What can I do for you?" Balin smiled as I hopped into the stool beside him. "Indeed it is," It was almost impossible to wipe the smile from my face "I am coming on your adventure." The wise dwarf rejoiced as he handed me the parchment and pointed to the several spots I needed to sign. I swallowed the guilt in the pit of my stomach from my father sitting in just the other room. Could I really leave? I've built this plan inside my head of living a life outside of the Shire, but now that the opportunity is in my grasps, something deep down was holding me back.

I stared at my signature that had been craved into the parchment in black ink and the reality set in. It was official.

"Well, Juliette, you are now a member of the company of Thorin Oakansheild. Until we meet again Lassie." He bowed his head as I left and continued to roam around; enjoying the night with the company I was now bound to.
