The night had passed, and the events were hazy due to the heavy amount of ale I had consumed. I remembered retiring to my bedroom once the clock struck midnight and left the company who all crowded in the living room, all staring into the fire as they sung. The song was melodic and from the crack in my bedroom door I fell into a deep slumber listening to the chorus of dwarves singing tales of the Misty Mountains and the dragon that had taken their long-forgotten gold.

Light pooled in through the coloured tiles of the window above my bed and I was greeting by the familiar sound of wind chimes and the screeching of a rooster from the adjacent hobbit hole. It was almost like last night never happened. "Gods." I hissed as a pounding headache greeted me once my eyes fluttered open. So maybe last night wasn't a dream.

I slammed my eyes shut and brushed my knotted hair from my face as a knock sounded from my circular, wooden door. "I'm guessing that there is a dwarf on the other end of that door."
The door inched open and surprisingly Fili poked his head in; his blonde hair remained untouched despite him sleeping. "Sorry to wake you, it's just me," I greeted Fili as he stepped into my room and his eyes were incredibly blue in the sunlight "Kili refuses to wake up, you're not the only one who had too much to drink. He's a light weight compared to the rest of us, no matter what he says."

"Could've fooled me." I smiled as I braided my hair behind my head as Fili continued "The company will be leaving soon and I suppose you wanted to pack some of your belongings, and say your farewells to Mr Boggins." I chuckled at the nickname as I hopped off my bed and rummaged through my belongings to fill a whole satchel with my personal belongings. "Is there anything specific I need for restoring a mountain?" I asked as Fili stood behind me "You got a sword?" I couldn't help the laughter that bursted from my lips "I've got a letter opener."

My satchel bulged with my personal belongings, an unhealthy amount of bread and my handheld mirror. Gods know next time I'll be able to see my reflection walking across middle earth. I dressed in my brown tunic with the only pair of trousers I owned. I wore a deep purple cloak that ran down the back of me until my knees and finally with my brown, leather boots. By the time I was ready to leave the company had already woken and were now outside ready to leave. I tiptoed through the empty hobbit hole until I found Bilbo still fast asleep on the sofa. He always looked so content when he was sleeping; never uptight and never frustrated. But that's what made him Bilbo Baggins.

I crouched on the floor beside his head and placed a soft kiss on his head "I'll be home before you know it." I smiled but the guilt of leaving consumed me. Should I really do this? "Juliette," Bofur appeared "We've got the ponies ready."
I nodded and took one finally glance at my sleeping father as I reached into my pocket and placing a rosa peace flower in the pocket of his shirt, before tearing myself away and walking out the hobbit hole for possibly the last time.

"We leave now, everyone get on a pony." Thorin ordered everyone. I hoisted myself onto a small dark brown pony. It was smaller than the others as I was a hobbit who were noticeably shorter than dwarves. My heart ached as I mentally said farewell to my home and my sleeping father before riding off with the dwarves that I will be with for a long time.

"Do you think he will come?" Kili rode beside me as we rode out of the border of the Shire in the forest lit by the beaming sun. "Who?"
"Mr Boggins." He laughed. "I really hope he changes his mind," I frowned "Maybe he'll have a change of heart once I'm actually gone." We rode along in silence for a good 15 minutes and I was considering turning around to go back home before we heard yelling not far behind us. "Wait!" We all turned to see Bilbo running toward us with the form flying around next to him and my smile of relief beamed. "Wait! I signed it!"

He ran ahead to Balin and handed him the form which he took from my father to look over. "You came!" I rode up a bit further to the front to my father. He exhaled from running and tightened his lips in a smile "What kind of father would I be if I let my daughter go on an adventure without me?" There's the Baggins in him.

"Well, everything seems to be in order. Welcome Bilbo Baggins to the company of Thorin Oakansheild." There's no turning back now. "Get him a pony." Thorin ordered. "Oo no thank you, I've done my fair bit of walking holidays. Haven't we, Jule?" I mentally face planted myself. "Please, someone get him a pony." I said with defeat.

I laughed as Fili and Kili next to me worked together to hoist Bilbo up onto a pony by either side of his coat. Bilbo sat up straight with an arched back whilst he held the reins at shoulder level with his fingertips; he looked incredibly uncomfortable and frankly disgusted by the untamed pony he rode. "I bet this pony came from Otho and Lobelia. Untamed creature, can't even walk in a straight line."
"Who? The pony or Lobelia?" I joked which earned a whole-hearted cackle from Bilbo. This quest is certainty turning around.
