From Alea Triscan's point of view
The next morning, I immediately began investigations in the dungeons of the beast glades.
'Aya was right there is no way the titanic worms are moving of their own volition, they are being guided by someone, based on the tunnel patterns, they all seem to be converging towards this area and are going deeper east towards the big ones mountains.'
I stopped running, as I saw that the tunnel I was running was ending, a piece of stone came off the ground and fell into the hole, inside the hole was a serpent hades a Class-AA mana beast, the noise that the stone did when hitting the ground scared the snake and it lunged towards me, but thanks to the height of the hole it didn't reach me.
I crouched down and started to analyze the mana beast, it was easily 30 meters long, it also had two heads a characteristic of hades serpents, but it had things that a hades serpent didn't have which were horns on the heads, a shade of dark gray skin.
'A corrupted beast.'
I took a communication device out of my dimensional ring and injected mana into it to turn it on.
"Varay, I spotted an abnormal hades serpent that is protecting a tunnel that is emanating a huge amount of mana."
"Do you think it could be the source? I'll proceed according to your judgment."
"Based on the similarities in their coloring, it's the horns that protrude from their heads, I believe so."
"Need reinforcements?"
"The beast itself isn't a problem but I don't really have a good feeling about the thing it's protecting, so I'd appreciate it if you sent back reinforcements."
"I have 50 battle mages ready to be teleported to the nearest portal. Stand by while awaiting further instructions."
"Yes ma'am."
With nothing to do, I sat down and leaned my back against the damp dungeon wall and started to think about everything that was happening in Dicathen.
The artifacts of kings elevate a mage from silver core to white core but that comes at a price although it gives us spears a huge power boost it also limited our potential this was never an issue for me anymore with a new one continent discovered and with a likely war looming, I was starting to get anxious and maybe even a little afraid that my power wasn't enough.
My mind turned away from those thoughts, rejecting them, because staying there meant I would have to acknowledge the chilling fear that was robbing my mind, corrupting every dark corner of it. Fear was an unacceptable weakness for the new era that this continent was entering.
I sighed and closed my eyes.
Mine opened by instinct when I felt someone approaching my position, I'm certainly the weakest of spears, but I'm the best when it comes to sensory magic.
The person approaching me was making a great effort to erase her presence but she was unlucky to find me here.
I hid behind a rock so I could secretly observe everything the person approaching would do.
'What?' I almost said aloud when I could see the person approaching me and the reason for that was because I would meet her, he was a frequent topic in council meetings since the mysterious incident he caused in the clearings of the beasts.
Lancelot Winey.
That was the boy's name.
'What is the boy planning?' I thought to myself, keeping a safe enough distance from him.
The boy stood still as he watched the hades serpent in front of him, for some reason my gaze was still glued to the boy, as if he was waiting for something surprising to happen.
"You sure don't have the skills to be a spy spear Alea." Lancelot spoke as he looked over his shoulder towards me.
"You are really astute." I pointed as he revealed to me, "what are you doing here?"
"Just observe." In the blink of an eye, the boy suddenly disappeared and reappeared on the snake's back a syringe materialized in his hand and he injected it into the snake's neck, after which he jumped up and posed next to me.
"I hope it works out." Lancelot muttered.
The snake began to struggle and its veins became visible, suddenly it began to inflate and explode, sending visors flying through the air.
"Shit!" Lancelot sat on the floor as he scratched his hair, "a few adjustments missing."
"What did you try..." the words trailed out of my mouth as shrill footsteps echoed from the tunnel the hades serpent was protecting.
The figure of what I believed to be a man came into view, its long, thin arms swinging at its sides as if its arms had come out of their sockets. He wears thick dark bandages underneath a shabby black cloak that lands on his shoulders and a tattered hoodie with his messy bangs peeking out of it. Underneath its hood are two obsidian horns.
"Oh...You guys had a little party around here."
