Chapter 2 Duel for Trust

While Sawatari and Gongenzaka were dueling Kaito, Yuni and Vivian looked in surprise at the four people standing in front of them.

"Who are you guys?" the blonde-haired man asked as if he had never seen them before. Then the blue-haired girl noticed the red cloths tied to their arms. "Where did you get those? They're from the Resistance!"

Yuni asked, "Does that mean you're the Resistance? Thank goodness, we've been trying to find you."

"Find us? Are you going to card us? Is that what you mean?" the pink-haired boy said.

"No, we're not with Academia. We are the Lancers, from the Standard Dimension. Our mission is to aid the Resistance and stop Academia's invasion!" Yuni said.

"And why should we believe you?" the purple-haired boy asked. "Academia uses all kinds of methods to deceive us and hunt us down. How do we know you're not one of them?"

Vivian said, "It seems like they don't trust us, huh?"

Yuni replied, "It's obvious, considering how much destruction of Heartland they've had to face."

Astral appeared and said, "I can't believe they're here in this world as well... Shark, Rio, Michael, and Thomas..."

Rio heard the white figure calling their names and asked, "How did you know our names?"

"Huh? We didn't say anything," Vivian said.

"No, I mean that white figure—he just called our names," Rio said.

Yuni and Vivian were surprised that Rio could see Astral, but the other three boys looked confused. "What white figure? I don't see anything," Michael said.

"Wait, you can't see him?" Rio asked. The others shook their heads. Shark said, "Rio, you must be tired. Just take a rest, we'll take care of them."

Thomas said, "That's right. If they really want to assist us in defeating Academia, we'll be the judges of that."

Vivian whispered to Yuni, "So she can see Astral..."

"Maybe she will be the one... but right now, we have to prove we're not enemies," Yuni said as they both activated their Duel Disks.

"Field Magic: Crossover!" The four were surprised to see the platforms appear. Thomas said, "These don't belong to Heartland, but we haven't seen Academia use them either..."

"But that doesn't mean they aren't spies sent by Academia," Shark said as they activated their Duel Disks. "Duel!" (Yuni+Vivian: 8000)(Thomas+Shark: 8000)

Shark narrowed his eyes, stepping forward first. "Since neither one of us can battle in the first turn, I'll go first. I summon Big Jaws. (ATK:1800/DEF:300/Level 3) I set one card and end my turn."

The holographic shark materialized beside him, circling its fins through the air before fading into defense position. Even in a ruined city, Shark's calm command carried weight.

Vivian drew her card with a quick motion, her tone composed but focused. "My turn. I use my Magic Card—Ghost Vacuum. I can send up to three cards from my Deck to the Graveyard, then I gain 1000 LP and draw a card."

A ghost-shaped machine formed on the field, sucking three glowing cards into a spectral vortex. Vivian barely flinched as its energy pulsed through her Duel Disk. (Yuni+Vivian:8000-9000)

She placed a card down. "I set Ghost Zone and end my turn."

Thomas crossed his arms, watching her with suspicion. "No monsters and only one set card? Are you mocking us?"
