"What—?!" Yuni's breath caught. "He's using Magic Cards as materials?!"
The twin stone obelisks rose behind Eliphas, radiating a golden aura that split the air like sunlight through stained glass. Ancient runes spiraled upward, resonating with a rhythm that made the entire field hum. The sight alone sent a chill through Yuya's team.
"I overlay my two Mysterious Monoliths!" Eliphas raised his hand, and the pillars shattered into fragments of light that circled above him. "Descend, guardian of celestial balance—Xyz Summon! New Orders 4: Etheric Anubis!" (ATK:1000/DEF:1000/Rank 4/Overlay Unit:2)
From the halo of energy stepped a tall, jackal-headed warrior, wrapped in armor of shifting gold. Its eyes burned with cold judgment, each motion leaving a trail of radiant dust. The ground beneath it rippled with power, as though the very Duel Field bent to its will.
Eliphas extended his arm without hesitation. "I set one card face-down," he said calmly. A sigil formed beside him, hovering like a silent threat. "That will end my turn."
Ryu clenched his fists. "A Rank Four with only a thousand attack points? That can't be all."
Yuzu watched the jackal's still frame, unease flickering in her eyes. "No... something about it feels wrong. That monster isn't weak—it's waiting."
"My turn!" Yuya's shout rang through the radiant arena as he drew, the card flashing between his fingers. His heart pounded in rhythm with the hum of the Action Field. "I activate the Magic Card—Fusion!"
Light burst from his Duel Disk, reflecting in his eyes. "I fuse Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Entermate Odd-Eyes Minotaur from my hand! Dichromatic eyes illuminate the dark night! Become one with the dragon that opens a new path! Fusion Summon! Appear—Starving Venom Predator Dragon!" (ATK:2800/DEF:2500/Level 7/Scale:1)
A surge of violet fire tore the sky apart. The predator dragon emerged, scales glinting like liquid venom, each beat of its wings warping the air. The crowd instinctively stepped back as its roar echoed through the dome.
From the observation deck, Johan's voice cut through the reverberation. "Yuri's dragon..."
Yuni's gaze hardened. "Technically, it belonged to Zarc." Her tone carried the weight of history—of a darkness that once consumed four worlds.
Yuya lifted his arm toward the towering jackal before him. "When Starving Venom is Fusion Summoned, I can target one of my opponent's Special Summoned monsters, and it gains that monster's ATK!" (ATK:2800-3800)
The dragon's fangs flared with energy as it siphoned Etheric Anubis's aura. Lightning cracked between them; the very field seemed to shudder beneath their duel of wills.
Yuya sprinted across the moving platforms, cloak whipping behind him. He leapt high, snatching a shimmering Action Card from midair. "I activate the Action Card—Trap Destruction! I target your face-down and destroy it!"
The concealed card shattered into a scatter of golden shards. Katrina narrowed her eyes. "Brother guessed it right..."
"Battle!" Yuya pointed ahead, voice sharp as steel. "Starving Venom Predator Dragon, strike down Etheric Anubis! Venom Impact!"
A vortex of poison energy surged toward the jackal god—
—but Eliphas's calm voice cut through the chaos. "I activate Etheric Anubis's effect. When a card in the Magic or Trap Zone is destroyed, I can detach one Overlay Unit to revive that card and activate it once more."
