i trudge my feet through the dew of the morning through the grass. i hear classmates mutter as i pass by.
"he probably a man whore."
"is that why he's so... scary?"
"i heard his mother's dead."
"his dad's a dick."
"everyone pities him."
"everyone hates him."
"he's probably just a junkie."
"he's so skinny."
"he looks outright sick."
as i do everyday, i ignore these untrue rumors. if anyone actually cared if they were true, they'd ask. but they don't. so i don't tell them.

im sitting out in the rain, but the sun still shines. even through the bad days. a book in my hand. the rain outside is cold against my face, but it's better than being in the cafeteria. no teacher has noticed my disappeared yet. but most days they don't. i just sit here and read. in peace.
"tyler joseph," i look up from my book.
"mrs. marley," i apply a fake smile to my face as if it were makeup.
"you need to come back inside," she draws a real smile.
"i like it outside."
"the rain... tyler."
"it's fine."
"it'll make you sick," she replies.
"inside?" i ask.
"inside," she nods.
she waits for me to collect my things. i grab my bag and my book, its' corners a little soggy from the rain.
she peers at the book as it lingers softly in hand.
"twilight?" she asks.
"yes."
"i heard it's fame rised.. a few years ago. they're making movies for it soon."
"hm."
"november of this year, i think."
"ah.. i'll have to give that a look."
we stand in front of the cafeteria doors.
"i know it's... rather loud in there, and you'd prefer the outside.. but tyler."
she plasters on her smile again, "try to make some friends, yes?"
i don't reply. there's no point in making friends. firstly, they don't stay. and secondly, i can't even invite them to my house, which makes them leave if they hadn't already, by the time that stage came along.
but, i apply the same smile i would for mom.
"yes, mrs. marley."
"go on now."
i turn toward the jungle that is high school kids. wishing and longing to return to the rain. but nobody hears my pleads, so i sit in the table closest to the door, farthest from everyone else, and continue to read about the love story between edward cullen and bella swan.

"he reads those creepy books."
"the one about the vampires and that girl?"
"yeah."
"he probably wants to prey on random girls."
"he's some creep that goes into their locker room and probably takes photos of them."
"probably."
"he's such a creep."
"he'll be single forever."
"probably die alone."
"just like his parents will."
