joshua "dropped" me off at my house a few hours ago. i'm currently sitting on my bed, doing some research about how to get your boyfriends' parents to like you and your family.

so far all the research i've done says to just 'be yourself'. if it was that easy, then i wouldn't need to ask complete strangers on the internet.

i slam my computer shut. it's too much right now. i should've just declined the dinner. but i couldn't. his parents are so nice. i couldn't have said no to his mom. i hate this stupid dinner. and it hasn't even happened.

dad walks in humming, slinging his coat over the couch and hanging his keys beside the door. i'm sitting in the kitchen eating leftovers.

"sorry i'm late, ty-guy." 

he starts to ramble off things about work. i know if i don't stop him now he'll pass out before i can ask him. 

"c-can you come and have dinner with joshua's family for me?"

"really?"

"really. they invited me... i wanted to see if you could come too."

"oh okay. when?"

"tomorrow."

"i'll get off early."

"really?"

"of course, kid," he looks at me, leaning on the counter.

"thanks dad."

"kid, you're my ride or die. 'course i would skip some work to have dinner with your boyfriend and his family to make you happy," he lets out a small chuckle.

"i love you dad."

"i love you too, ty-guy. and if i wasn't sweaty and smelling awful id give you a hug."

"you can give me a hug later."

"okay, promise kid."

"go take a shower."

he walks off, and i feel.. slightly happy. 

for dad to meet joshua's parents.
