"sooooo," jai starts. 

"do you have a boyfriend?" their sister finishes. 

"no."

"oh come on tyler! you have to like someone," ellie says.

"he could be ace," jai says to his sister. 

"i'm not ace," i reply. 

"okay, well do you have a girlfriend?"

"no."

"do you have a crush," jai asks.

"you guys, your birthday is coming up soon. you'll be fourteen."

"stop changing the subject, tj."

"i..."

"you have a crush, don't you?"

i nod slowly.

ellie and jai squeal together. 

"oh good, what's their name."

"well..."

i stop, do i really want to.. out myself. 

"you're worried, aren't you?" jai asks. 

"not of you- i just-."

"circulations, understood."

"but just so you know," ellie says.

"i'm aroace."

"and i'm a lesbian."

"oh."

"so, we wouldn't out you."

"thanks guys."

they smile back at me, diverting the conversation from my sexuality and include aunt marie and uncle john in our conversations.

i throw a pillow at jai, "good god, you read too much wattpad."

"NO YOU," ellie says throwing a pillow back at me as does jayiden.

"okay i know you're twins, but you assholes don't have to double ambush me."

they both laugh at me.

"good night, tj," ellie says.

"goodnight, tj," jai chimes in seconds later.

"goodnight, you two."
