he reaches for my hand. our parents are laughing at something abby said as a joke. most likely calling joshua old. that's been the running joke this evening.

"i can't believe you graduated, josh! i remember you being a little man, so happy to start school. you said you're a big kid. and now look, you're off to college. you have a serious boyfriend. jesus, kid im proud of you."

"thank you dad."

his dad looks away and i assume it's to wipe a tear off his face.

"you're such a grown young man, joshua."

"thanks, momma."

"i love you," his parents say at the same time.

"i'm proud of you, j." i whisper to him.

"yeah?"

im laying on his stomach in my bed. i can feel as he breathes. as he brings my face up and down. 

i feel at peace. in a safe space. just me and him together.

"you think those boys will be as hot as me?"

"in college?"

"yeah."

"hell no. i'm in love with you and only you."

i smile to myself, knowing he can't see the huge smirk on my face.

"i'm so lucky," i say.
