today im in a good mood.

so i don't outrightly ignore every student i come across, not intentionally. i can't hear their rumors or their thoughts. which is a relief, a feeling like when you've been drowning underwater for years, and you don't realize you have until you get a seconds' worth of air.

my air are these headphones, blocking out the world. blocking out my foes. i'm barely paying attention to my surroundings.

-

i feel a tshirt clutched in my hands. my knees feel wet and i can hear the sound of students muttering. i can feel the air as it's ripped from my lungs, my tears sting.

"oh god- im so sorry."

my eyes are closed. the darkness is my friend.

"can you hear me?"

his voice lifts me up, i can feel his hand on my shoulder.

i open my eyes.

"are you okay?"

i nod, looking around for the headphones i've had for two months. they're crashed on the floor under his backpack. i scream.

-

i'm sitting in the front office. the kid who crashed in to me is sitting to my left, a paper towel against his nose.

"i'm sorry.. again."

he doesn't say anything in reply.

"im sorry-."

"joshua dun," the door to the principal's office has opened.

his eyes shoot up.

"you can go home now," the principal tells him.

he grabs his bag, looks at me for a half a second, before following  a man out of the school.

"tyler joseph," i peel my eyes away from where joshua used to stand to where my dad stands.

the principal calls my name again, and i stand, following both men.

today im in a bad mood.
