The Red Keep, King's Landing—Skies Above God's Eye

132 AC to 133 AC

Aemond landed back home at the Red Keep, Daenaera's dying scream ringing in his ears.

All that was left of Daenaera Targaryen were pieces of her clothes and dragon. Nothing else of the sixteen year old princess loved by the realm.

What have you done. he snarled down his bond with Vhagar as he entered the Red Keep.

War was inevitable. He killed Rhaenyra's beloved daughter, the Queen Who Never Was favorite grandchild. Rhaenyra and the Blacks would be out for vengeance.

"We're doomed! Doomed!" Helaena screamed when he reunited with his family in Maegor's Holdfast.

"What have you done, Aemond?" Alicent inquired.

Then the Red Keep hears of Daenaera's death and soon, he was no longer Aemond 'One Eye' Targaryen, the Wildfire Prince.

"Kinslayer." everyone whispered behind his back.

"She'll kill us all." Alicent whispered. She knew that any negotiations with Rhaenyra were over—the firstborn child of Viserys and Aemma wouldn't rest until Aemond was dead.

Alicent had been planning to stop what she had done and request that Daenaera be betrothed to Aemond. That way, the Greens and the Blacks would be reunited.

But it didn't hit Aemond until Helaena screamed: "KINSLAYER! YOU'VE DOOMED US ALL!"

He had murdered Daenaera. He felt nothing but regret and shame but he didn't tell anyone it was an accident, that he had lost control of Vhagar.

He kept quiet and bared the shame of being a Kinslayer as Daenaera filled his every waking moment.

Her laugh and smile, how her white-gold hair would shine in the sunlight, the way her pale violet eyes lit up when her brothers were around as his jealousy surged through him that Jacaerys and Lucerys got time with her and he didn't

Aemond felt the Dragon Princess haunt him every day. Especially at Jaehaera's funeral as Helaena wailed for her daughter, as his beloved sister paid the consequences for his actions.

If the Wildfire Prince hadn't chased after Daenaera to make her pay for his lost eye, Jaehaera and Daenaera would be alive.

Later that night, as he flew on Vhagar, he found himself begging for forgiveness.

"Daenaera! I'm sorry! I didn't mean for you to die! Please, forgive me!" he screamed into the sky.

As ever day passed, Aemond knew his death was creeping up on him. That the Greens wouldn't win the war—House Lannister, House Stark and House Tyrell had declared for Rhaenyra after Daenaera's death spread through Westeros like wildfire.

Many other Houses in the Reach either declared for Rhaenyra or switched from the Greens to the Blacks. Who would follow a king who kept a kinslayer alive side, after all?

After the smallfolk practically threw open the gates for the Blacks when they came, Aegon, Alicent, Sunfyre, Aemond, and Vhagar barely escaping.

Caraxes, Vermax, and Arrax had pursed them all before falling back.

Rumor had it that Rhaenyra's scream of rage that her daughter's murder had escaped could be heard throughout the Red Keep. Otto's head had been put on a spike after being tortured for a fortnight.

He was fighting the war to avoid drowning in his grief and sorrow. Every night he relieved Shipbreaker's bay.

Terrified pale violet eyes, a dying scream. The sound of Vhagar's teeth and a sickening crunch.

Aemond Targaryen was nothing but a murder who killed his niece yet longed and mourned for her.

Longing for something he would never have and never would.

When he fought Daemon over God's Eye, he knew he would die. As Dark Sister pierce through his remaining eye, all he could feel was a relief.

My dear Daenaera. We will be reunited soon.

I put through Aemond through so much... Don't worry, he'll get a happy ending!
