Arizona's P.O.V:
It's Noah's birthday! My little guy is officially one. This past year has been nothing but crazy. From that moment I found out he was coming, my whole life changed in an instant. The thought of being a young mom scared the hell out of me, but ever since he arrived, I've never been prouder. He's the light of my life and I wouldn't change it for the world. I guess life is funny that way. You never know where or how your life will end up. One minute you're a college student, full of life and potential, then the next thing you know, you're married and have a baby by the age of twenty. Everything has been going great so far other than the fact that Callie's been completely chaotic with this whole party deal. Just last week we talked about just something small since it was last minute, but she decided to go all out. So, I just let her do whatever she wanted to do, but I did make it firm that there would be no clowns in our house, and she promised me there wouldn't be. Thank God for that. I hated them fuckers with a passion. And since a lot of our friends that Callie invited don't have children, it's more of an adult party than a kid's party, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that we're celebrating Noah.
Callie was just finishing getting the decorations up when I walked into the kitchen with Noah.
"Hey, Mama, how does this look?" I ask in my baby voice. Her smile is full blown when she saw Noah in the new outfit her mom got him. The outfit was blue with a couple of monkeys hanging from a small branch, then had monkey booties and a monkey hat to match.
"Well, don't you just look handsome," she chuckles. she jumps down off the chair she was standing on and pulls out her phone to snap a picture, "Oh yeah, this one is definitely going in a frame," she says, showing me the picture, she just took.
"Come get in one with us, Mama," I tell her. Callie smiles once more, then comes to stand next to me. She holds her phone out to take a selfie of the three of us together.
"Oh, this one is definitely my favorite," she says, showing me how the picture turned out. Which it really did, it turned out perfect. A moment later, the doorbell rang, alerting us that the first guest has arrived.
"I'll get it," I say to Callie. I give her a peck on the lips, then go answer the door.
"Party has arrived," Mark announced no sooner I open the door. I just roll my eyes and step aside for him to come in, "where is everyone?" he asks, when he noticed no one else was here yet.
"Umm...well, if you actually looked at a clock for once, you'd know that you're an hour early," I hissed out.
"So hostile, Blondie. Need to relax," he says, rubbing my head like a dog, "hey little man, happy birthday," He takes Noah from my grasps and gently bounces him, earning a small giggle in return.
"Where's Lexie? Please tell you guys didn't break up. That girl is good for you,"
"Nah, she's the getting gifts out of the car. She will be right in," He moves further in and joins Callie in the dining room.
"Looking good, Torres," Mark states, patting her on the back, "so, where's the clown at?"
"Oh, I don't know Sloan, he's probably standing right next to me, oh yeah, there he is," she says, pointing her finger at him.
"Wow, first Blondie, now you. I'm really starting to feel the love here," he says sarcastically. Callie just laughs and goes about getting the room finished before the rest of the guests arrive.
For the last couple of hours, Noah's party has been in full swing. I'm highly surprised by how many people have shown up for a one-year old's party. Everything is going perfectly just like I hoped it would, so I'm not really complaining. Teddy was even able to make it over with the twins. I'm thankful for Addison being around to help her out when we are unable to, at least until we know what's going on with Tim's paternity leave. He had sent us a letter the other day, apologizing for not being able to make it and was still waiting to hear on what was going on.
When six o'clock finally rolled around, the party was finally starting to wind down a bit. By six-thirty, the last of our guests have taken off and we were left with the aftermath. Clean up. Which was fine. It was completely worth it since the party was for Noah.
I began the cleanup while Callie gave Noah his bath then put him down for bed. It didn't take her long, so after she laid our one-year-old down, she joined me in the kitchen.
"He is out," she says with a laugh.
"Oh, good. He had to be exhausted from all the attention he was getting today. I know I am," I say, letting out a tired sigh.
"What do you say, we save the rest of the cleanup for tomorrow and we go in and take a nice long bath?"
"I'd say, that would be a great idea, but..."
"No....please tell me you don't have homework," her mouth forming into a pout and stomping her feet. Sometimes I wonder if I'm married to a twenty-seven-year-old or a three-year-old.
"I'm sorry babe, but unfortunately I do," I say, giving her the same pouty face, she was giving me, "I have to make an outline of the three chapters that were assigned for reading,"
"Damnit," my wife growled out, stomping her foot once more, "I tell you what, hot bath first, then homework? Yeah?" I just laugh and shake my head
"Okay, fine. But no funny business, Calliope Robbins-Torres," I say to her, "we get in, we get relaxed, wash up then were done,"
"We'll see," she says, with a mischievous grin. I just roll my eyes, and we make our way to the master bath.
"That was a success," I say, leaning to where my back was pressed into Callie's front. She wraps her arms around my midsection and rests just below my boobs.
"It really was," she says proudly, "mmm, this feels really nice," she hums out, "I could stay like this with you forever," I couldn't help but let out a little snort.
"I could too, but you know we can't," I tell her, "I have homework to get to,"
"Yeah, I know," she says. Judging by her tone, I could tell she was pouting again.
"I promise, once I get all my reading done and my outlines for notes, for the rest of the night, I'll give you my undivided attention,"
"Deal," she says, "I'm going to hold you to that,"
"I wouldn't have it any other way," I say, giving her a dimpled smile. For the rest of the time, we just kick back, relax and enjoy each other's company before getting back to reality. A part of me is kicking myself in the ass for going back to school, but I'm only doing this in hopes of bettering myself, not only for me, but for Noah and Callie as well. I've always had a dream of getting into producing music and since my beautiful wife owns her own record producing company, I'm in love with the idea of running the business with her. Just the two of us. The Robbins-Torres couple. Just thinking about it makes my heart smile and excited to finish my degree to make that dream come true.
*So, Noah is finally one!!! This is probably the last regular Chapter. Next will be a time jump! Two years into the future! I'm sorry to do it, but I don't want to drag it on anymore. Sorry if the ending is boring. Let me hear your thoughts. *
