The letter said to trust no one, so I'm going to ask one of the only people I can for help.

"Cathrine." I say walking into her personal office at my office.

"Oh, hey Mariana. What are you doing here. I thought you went home."

"Yes I did. Well not home, home but I left and went to the cemetery. I have a few questions to ask you."

"Yeah, Sure. Take a seat."

"Do you know how long ago the council died?"

"Psssshh like..." She thinks for a minute. "...11 years ago." That's around the time my aunt left, could it be connected?

"Hm. Do you know anything else about Ira? Anything at all."

"Only that she was rumoured to be dating someone in the office but I don't know how true that was, I didn't feel like it was my place to ask her."

"What did you hear about that?"

"Not much, she was quite secretive so no one knew for sure or had a clue who it was."

"Do you know if my mother knew Ira?" I question.

"The first time that I saw your mother was when she and your dad came with you that one time, so not that I know of."

"Did you know of any of her friends?"

"Only ones from work, I can't think of anyone else. She was quite close with a girl named Penny who worked here." Aunt Penny worked here? Or is it a different Penny?

Note to self: you need to look into that.

"Ok. Thanks for the help."

"Anytime."

"What's wrong?" Jackson asks as he bursts through my bedroom door. He let's out a breath of relief when he sees me completely fine just sat on my bed. "You've gotta stop doing that."

"Doing what?"

"Texting 'come quick it's an emergency'." He says in one breath.

"But it is an emergency."

"Are you dying?" He asks.

"No."

"On the verge of dying?"

"No."

"Are you injured?"

"No."

"In danger?"

"Debateable."

"Is there a murder after you?"

"Potentially."

"In this current moment."

"No."

"Then stop with the 'come quick it's an emergency' when it ain't one. Then when I reply to you, you don't answer and scare the shit out of me. For all I know you could be dead."

"We have more pressing matters at hand here, this can wait untill later. On the contrary to what you just said it is acctually an emergency. This isn't going go make much sense and I'll fill you in later but I need to to subtly follow my mom."

"Why would I want to do that?" He asks.

"Because I need to know where she's going." I state.

"What if she's having a secret affair and I follow her, I don't want to see that. If I had a list of things I don't want to see, that would be near the top."
