I went inside David's garage carrying my mint green Fender Jaguar.

"Hey, Jack! Meet Brandon and Matthew." David greeted me and introduced me to his bandmates.

"Hey, I'm Jack. I'm so stoked to jam with you guys!" I said and shook their hands.

"You're American? That's so cool, man!" Brandon said.

"Yeah, I'm from LA. How about you? Are you from London?" I asked.

"Yes, we're all born here. We're best friends since primary school." Brandon explained.

"Dude, is that a real 1964 Fender Jaguar?" Matthew asked me, admiring my guitar.

"Yeah, it is. I bought it in a vintage store. It's one of my favorite guitars from my collection." I said.

"Your collection? Holy cow, how many guitars do you have?" He asked.

"Uh, too much to count. I don't know, like 30 maybe?" I said and laughed.

They all started to laugh with me, probably thinking that I was joking.

I wanted to hear them play first before I'd join them, so I sat on an amp and listened to their into jam. It wasn't too bad, I just got used to listening to Flea jamming with John and no one could top that.

"Wanna join us?" David asked me when they finished playing Paranoid.

"Sure!" I replied and plugged my guitar to the amp.

I warmed up for a couple minutes and asked the guys what they wanted to play.

"Surprise us." Matthew said.

So I decided to play Maggot Brain, one of the first songs John introduced me to. I loved the nights when we would just sit in the living room and listen to music. We could sit and talk about music until the early morning hours. John made it his point to introduce me to as many genres and styles as possible. He often showed me how to play the songs too.

The song was over 10 minutes long and for the entire time I was playing the guys sat there in silence and just watched me.

"Was it okay? I'm sorry, I got a little rusty, I haven't played for a while." I said, looking at their faces.

"Okay? That was phenomenal. You're on another level, dude." David told me.

"Oh, come on, I fucked up a couple of times." I said.

"Did you just make that up?" Brandon asked.

"No, it's a song by the band Funkadelic. You've never heard of them?" I said.

I was very surprised to see all of the guys shake their heads.

"Ah, okay, you're probably more into British rock. I am too. My favorite band is Radiohead." I told them.

"We like Radiohead too." David said, so we preceded to play a couple of their songs.

"Do you have a band, Jack?" Matthew asked me as he unplugged his guitar.

"Oh, I, uh... Yeah, I've been in a couple of bands." I replied, initially hesitating if I should lie to him.

"Can I find you on YouTube or Spotify?" He further asked.

Oh, shit. I couldn't let him search for me on the Internet as he might be able to find something and my cover would be blown.

"No, definitely not." I replied.
