I got home and went straight to my bedroom. I tried to get myself together after visiting the cemetery. A couple of minutes later I called our manager and asked him to book rooms in hotels different from those in which the rest would be staying for me. Then I turned on music and I didn't know when I had fallen asleep.

When I woke up, it was already 2 PM. I saw a couple of messages from Maggie on my phone.

"Mom's taking me to a doctor, I don't know why 😱"

"You won't believe it. She wanted me to start taking birth control! I was prescribed some pills"

"Babe I'm scarred, mom wants you to come here 😳"

"Please, answer"

Mag wrote.

"I'm gonna be there in 10 minutes."

I replied and jumped out of bed. I changed into fresh clothes and ran out of the house.

- Come in.

Maggie said as she opened the door. I was still out of breath.

- I'm so sorry baby, I went to visit mom's grave and I...

I explained myself.

- It's ok, Josh. I love you.

She said and kissed me.

- I love you too. How was school?

I asked.

- Great. Nobody's bullying me since they saw us together.

Mag replied and smiled to me.

- Really? I'm pretty useful, aren't I?

I joked. Then her mom approached us.

- Kids, I want you to be serious for a moment. I've made one of the hardest decisions in my life and I want you to hear it.

Christine said.

- What is it, mom? You're taking me to a gynecologist and now this!

Maggie told her mom.

- Baby, just listen to me. I can see that you've grown up a lot during the last weeks. I know you and Josh are inseparable. I saw how sad you were when you found out he's leaving. So I've decided I'll let you go. But only for the summer holidays. Then you need to go back to school.

Magdalene looked at me as if she wanted to make sure she understood her mother's words correctly. I smiled wide and hugged her.

- Really?! Mom, I love you so much! You're the best!

Maggie exclaimed and began hugging and kissing her mom.

- Thank you, ma'am. I will make sure your daughter is safe and sound. You don't need to worry about her. I promise.

I said and also hugged Christine. She started to cry.

- I'm gonna miss my baby.

Mrs Hill said.

- I'll miss you too. I'm gonna call you everyday.

Maggie told her mom and hugged her once again.

- Don't forget to take your pills.

Christine told Mag.

- Mom, I don't even need them, I told you. Josh, tell her.

Maggie replied and looked at me.

- Oh, yeah, she doesn't need to take them.

I told her mom.
