For weeks after Bakugo was rescued he cried in his room. Y/n had heard him plenty of times when they went to go check on him. He wasn't the type to let someone know him enough to know what he'd do. Every time Y/n knocked on the door he'd yell at them to go away. They would ask themself what the hell they did that made him not trust them.

Though one day he finally let them in.

"Y/n..." He called. He sounded desperate for help. "It's okay. I'm here alright?" They assured him. He nodded. They sat next to him on his bed and hugged him. "Let's lay down." They told him.

He laid his head on their chest and eventually he was tired enough to mumble out an 'I love you'

They panicked and as soon as he fell asleep they left.

The next day before Y/n even had the chance to avoid Bakugo he ran the other way with Kirishima. They frowned. They loved him so much but who could be 100% ready to say it back to someone? They just needed some time but he was running away. He was just as scared as they were.

When Y/n went to his dorm later that night they heard him crying to Kirishima.

"Shitty hair... I don't know what to do." He muttered. Their heart broke. They could try to tell themselves a good lie. That Y/n had said it back or that Bakugo had never even said those three words. But in the end it would all be a lie. He did say it and they did run away.

Y/n wanted him to take it back so bad. They hated change and 'I love you' was the biggest change. Maybe he didn't even mean it. He was just upset and vulnerable. Even if that was the case it would hurt even more. They loved him too...

Bakugo's smirk never faltered during training. He even smirked at Y/n. He looked proud but if you looked closely you could see he was breaking down.

Y/n asked Bakugo to meet them at one of the local parks near UA. They made sure to go right before the sun set.

When they were finally with Bakugo again they smiled. They leaned into him and he held them. They couldn't escape the way they loved him even if they wanted to. The best thing to do was to accept their feelings and rip the bandaid off.

So why couldn't they?

Why couldn't they say it back? It wasn't a slur, a curse, or anything bad so why couldn't they say it.

They took a deep breath then opened their mouth but the words didn't come out. Bakugo looked at them curiously. "What's wrong?" He asked. They shook their head.

"I..." They started.

"I love you too." They ignored the beautiful sunset in front of them to look at Bakugo. "I'm sorry I didn't say it back but I am now so I love you Bakugo Katsuki." They were breathing slightly heavy waiting for his response. "I love you idiot..." He responded.
