I watched as my best friend used his fire against his friend. I was put into general studies when I entered UA which was sad but ok. At least I'd still be going to the same school as him. His friends didn't know I existed yet. Not because we were keeping each other secret but because we never have time to talk to each other. Sometimes we'll walk to some classes together but not often.
When the match ended I watched my friend leave the arena.
The matches were finally over and I was excited to go congratulate my friend on his wins. He stood with a few of his friends. "Shoto!" I called, running over to him. He smiled slightly. A smile only I ever got. I hugged him tightly. "You did amazing out there! Congratulations on your wins. I know you'll get first place next time." I smiled at him. "You think?" He asked, a small glint of hope in his eyes. He must've been a tad upset that he didn't get number one. I nodded my head. He hugged me back then pulled away. His friends stared at me in shock. I felt shy under their stares. It's like they were judging me. "Eh- I thought these were your friends Shoto? Why are they looking at me like that..?" I shriveled behind him. "They aren't my friends. I don't know why they're looking at you like that." He explained.
My face softened at his remark. I looks at the green haired boy. "He's your friend." I pointed. The boy was so confused. "You've never used your fire side Shoto. He got you to use it. He's your friend." I smiled. Shoto pondered it before nodding slightly. "I guess he is then.." Shoto admitted. The boy smiled softly at presumably Shoto's new found interest in having friends. "I should probably introduce myself huh?" I thought out loud. "I'm Y/n L/n! I'm Shoto's childhood best friend. I've know him forever. By the way I'm very intrigued by the fact that you made Shoto use his fire during the battle." I paused. I looked at them all and slightly bombarded them with questions, critiques, and compliments. Shoto covered my mouth. "You're bothering them N/n. Let's go. I'm sure my father is waiting for me." He grumbled. I smiled at him. "Okay. Do you want me to stay if he is?" I asked. He nodded as we began to walk away.
"I can't tell if she's scary or cute..." The boy from earlier stated. I snickered and continued on my way with Shoto.

When Shoto was walking to his class I decided to go with. I wanted to meet their teacher because my first period was a break period today. "Good morning Aizawa-Sensei." He greeted. The teacher stared at him and nodded. He turned to me and gave me a look. "Who are you?" He asked menacingly. I shrunk back. "I-" I couldn't find my words. "This is Y/n L/n. She tried getting into the hero course but was put into general studies instead. She has an amazing quirk for this class though." He introduced. The teacher stared at me. "Can she stay in here and observe the class? Her first period is a break period." Shoto asked. His teacher thought it over. "Can you be quiet?" He asked. I nodded. "You can stay. Depending how you act today you can be welcomed again to observe and possibly be involved." He told me. My eyes lit up with happiness. I bowed. "Thank you sir. This means a lot." I said. He grumbled something then ordered us to sit down.
"Take my seat." Shoto offered. I shook my head. "No I'm here observing. Sit down. Don't start a fight about this because your teacher scares me and if he yells at us I will cry." I stated. Shoto sighed and reluctantly sat down. I sat beside his seat on the floor and ignored the curious glances. I rested my head on his thigh. His teacher started teaching and when the bell rang I had already learned so much. Two spiky haired guys walked up to us. I noticed one as Bakugo from the sports festival and the other I forgot his name. I stood up and offered a smile. "Hi." I greeted. The redhead was about I respond before Bakugo cut him off. "Why the hell are you here!? Go back to general studies you reject!" He yelled at me. My chest tightened. "O-oh.. I'm s-sorry?" I apologized. The red head smacked him. "I apologize for him. He's bad with words. I just wanted to introduce myself sense you're so close with Todobro. I smiled slightly at the nickname. "Um.. hello. I'm Y/n L/n." I introduced. "I'm Eijiro Kirishima." He smiled widely. The blonde grumbled something under his breath.
"Why's he so mean?" I whispered to Shoto. He just shrugged. "I should go. I really don't like yelling.." I explained. "Then go!" He growled. I jumped and walked past him. Shoto was mad. "Shut your mouth Bakugo. Maybe once you respect someone else you will gain some respect. I don't understand how Midoriya looks up to you." He shot before chasing after me. "Dude! That's Todoroki's friend. His presumably only friend! You blew our chance to actually get to know her!" Kirishima scolded. "I don't care about that damn reject!" Bakugo growled back. "She could have an awesome quirk. Maybe even better than yours." Kirishima challenged. They dropped the topic and went to their next period.

The next day I came back again with Shoto. "I've gotten permission from principal Nezu to keep you in here for every first period as if you were a student. That means whenever we go places you have the opportunity to go with and learn a lot more. This includes when these students get their provisional licenses. If you mess this up your out and everything I'll teach you will be trashed, you understand?" He told my harshly. I smiled brightly. "Yes sir! Thank you Aizawa-Sensei!" I exclaimed. He had a soft hardly noticeable smile. It was easy for me to tell because Shoto has the same smile. I noticed that the seat by Shoto was free today and that there was an extra desk. It was the only seat open so I took it.
"Alright everyone. Today we're going to train so get your hero costumes on and meet me on ground Gamma." He explained. I noticed the short haired brunette from the other day and walked over to her. "Hi." I greeted while walking. She smiled at me. "Hey. You're L/n, right?" She asked. I nodded in confirmation. "Nice to meet you I'm Ochaco Uraraka." She introduced. I smiled. "Nice to meet you too." We fell into silence. "I'm kind of nervous. I've created a hero costume and I had it made so it just kind of sits in my locker but I've never tried it on." I explained. She smiled. "I'm sure it'll look amazing. What's your quirk by the way?" She asked. "It's basically a mutation of my parents quirks honestly. It's like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland and a flame quirk. So I can do everything the Cheshire can do with some added perks. One of them being I can make fire appear from somewhere it looks like it shouldn't." I explained. I showed her an example by creating fire somewhere away from me. "That's so cool!" She exclaimed. I smiled sheepishly. "Thank you!"

Everyone was with their friend groups and I had no idea where to go. Normally I'd just go to Shoto but he's gaining friends so I should leave him alone to do that. Kirishima is with Bakugo and he's too rude for my taste to be around. I didn't know anyone else. I decided against joining a group and leaned against a piece of metal. "Y/n!" Shoto called. I smiled lightly and walked over to him. "Hey." I greeted. For once his smile was noticeable to more than just me. "I'm happy you're getting this opportunity." Shoto told me. I nodded. "Me too. It's exciting. I really like being in here. Even if I haven't done much yet." I smiled.
Before our conversation could continue Mr aizawa started speaking. "You're going to do a race against each other to get to that spot." He showed us from a monitor. "Everything is allowed." He finished. "The first group going is Bakugo, Midoriya, L/n, Todoroki, Ojiro, and Sero." He told us. I smiled at Shoto. "I'm gonna beat you." I told him. He smiled slightly. "We'll see." He challenged.
When we started Sero gave himself a boost with his tape. Ojiro jumped on his tail. Midoriya used his quirk which made him go super fast. Bakugo used his explosions. Shoto used his eyes. And I easily teleported over there and won. I smiled at the enraged Bakugo. "Beat that you egotistical, anger issues, Pomeranian." I laughed before going back down. Kirishima smiled at me. "Your quirks really cool L/n what is it?" He asked. Everyone else looked over to us, presumably curious as well. After explaining it to everyone I got a bunch of compliments. "You're average." Bakugo said. I chuckled. "No your dick's average. You should see mine." I retorted. I laughed at his red face. He was unbelievably mad. Kirishima has to stifle his laughs as he calmed his hotheaded friend down. Shoto wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "You should be careful. As funny as his reactions are, Aizawa Sensei might kick you out." He explained. I nodded. "I know. He's just too confident. It's irritating because he undermines me. I'm not useless and my power is extremely useful." I defended. He nodded.
"Congratulations L/n you won. I wonder why they didn't put you into the hero course." He questioned. "Probably because she's useless just like stupid Deku." Bakugo quipped. I sighed, controlling my anger. "He's obviously not useless if he's in the hero course." I retorted. He surprisingly shut up. This was going to be a fun year.
