I woke up and it was already dark outside. Shit, dinner was at 9 PM...I can't be late again. I had no idea what time it was, but I could blame Vincenzo for that—he took my phone.
I quickly rushed to my door, but right before I unlocked it, I realized I was only in my white shirt. If I walked downstairs like this, they'd see the bruises.
Fuck.
I hurriedly threw on my hoodie and opened the door. I practically ran down the stairs, almost tripping. Damn, I'm so clumsy.
"Where are you headed?" Vincenzo's deep voice stopped me. He was right behind me, and damn, he scared me.
"Dinner...I didn't miss it, right?" I asked, worry creeping in.
"No, it's only 8 PM." Vincenzo said, glancing at his watch.
"Oh...alright," I exhaled in relief.
"Listen, Lissy," Vincenzo started, "You'll get a new phone when you start school next week."
"Thanks...really, thank you," I said, meeting his dark eyes.
"Okay," Vincenzo said curtly, turning and walking away.
"Where are you going?" I asked, furrowing my brows.
"Business," he answered, not even glancing at me.
"This late?" I asked, confused.
"Yes, I'm the CEO. I always work," Vincenzo replied, leaving through the front door.
Okay, whatever. I walked into the living room, deciding to watch some TV. As I entered, I saw Enzo on the couch, typing away on his phone. Matteo was half asleep beside him. Are they always together?
"Hi," I greeted quietly as I walked past them and sat on another couch.
"Lissy, where were you?" Enzo asked, his face lighting up with that familiar big smile.
"Just sleeping," I said, not meeting his gaze.
"What were you doing at night then?" Matteo asked, his eyes still glued to his phone.
"She talked in her sleep, that's for sure," Davide said as he entered the room.
"Really? What did I say?" I asked, suddenly anxious.
"I didn't understand a word...you were speaking in Spanish," Davide said as he sat beside me.
Thank God for Spanish. It's one language my brothers don't understand.
"What are you watching?" Davide asked.
"I don't know...just got here," I mumbled, not paying much attention.
"Some dumb slasher movie," Matteo commented, gesturing toward Enzo.
"You're staring at your phone, Enzo. Give me the remote," Davide said, holding his hand out.
"This is funny, let me watch it," Enzo said without looking up from his phone.
"You wanna watch a slasher?" Davide asked, turning to me.
