"What were you talking about earlier? Who's Perez?" I asked, biting my lower lip.
"No one you should worry about." Vincenzo said dismissively.
"Why don't you ever trust me with things? You never tell me anything." I am tired because they always keep everything a secret from me.
"You should mind your own business, Lissy." Dante said coldly. It was like a slap in the face.
"Just tell us why you cried." Santino looked at me with soft eyes.
It's always like this.
They treat me like a stupid kid.
Untrustworthy kid.
"You act like you care, but in reality, you couldn't care less. You all are liars and you never trust me!" I shouted, my voice cracking with anger as I placed Jax on the floor. He trotted toward Santino, who picked him up gently, his expression unreadable.
All of my brothers froze in shock, their faces a mix of confusion and disbelief.
"Lissy, listen," Vincenzo began, his voice calm but wary.
"No! You listen!" I cut him off sharply. "Why do you always treat me like this? Why don't you ever listen to me? Why don't you trust me? Why don't you tell me anything?" The words came out like a flood, my chest heaving.
"Lissy, we trust you," Vincenzo said, his voice steady, but I didn't miss the flicker of unease in his eyes. "It's not that we don't trust you,"
"Then what is it?" I snapped, not giving him a chance to finish. "Don't you get it? I'm sad. I can't keep telling you everything and not receive back the same thing!" My voice broke, and I saw Dante take a step toward me, his arms outstretched like he wanted to comfort me.
I stepped back. "Don't," I warned, pushing him away. The hurt on his face was obvious, but I couldn't let them manipulate me again.
"Sorellina..." Domenico started softly.
"Stop with that 'sorellina' thing, whatever that means!" I barked.
"It means 'little sister,'" Giovanni interjected. "Sister, calm down."
"Lissy, let us explain," Davide tried, his tone pleading.
"Explain?" I scoffed. "You never explain anything! You just manipulate me. 'Lissy, that's nothing you should worry about,' 'Lissy, that's nothing important.' It's always 'Lissy, Lissy, Lissy!'" I turned to Vincenzo, the eldest, hoping for answers. "If it's not about trust, then what is it? Why do you treat me like this?"
Vincenzo sighed heavily. "I'll try to answer all your questions. Sit down, and let's talk normally."
I rolled my eyes but sat across from him. "So?" I asked, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Drop the attitude," he said, his tone firm.
I leaned back, glaring at him. "And I thought you were different. I'm not surprised, though. I knew you'd be like this."
