We ended up watching a comedy, so I guess it was okay. Blake seemed a bit bored—he sighed loudly a few times but didn't say anything.
Jax, my sweet puppy, suddenly rushed in and leapt onto the couch, curling up comfortably in my lap. Blake's eyes widened as he stared at him.
"What's that?" he asked, clearly confused. Hazel giggled.
"It's Jax, my puppy," I replied, planting a kiss on Jax's tiny paw. He barked three times as if to say hello.
"Oh..." Blake muttered, unsure of how to react.
"You should smile more. Nobody likes your face when it's like that," Hazel teased, glancing at her twin brother.
Blake's face flushed red, and without a word, he stood up to leave. I felt bad, wondering if maybe Hazel had hurt his feelings.
"Blake, don't you want to stay with us?" I asked gently. He paused, turning around to look at me.
"Better not," Hazel chuckled, though I could tell she was just teasing him in her usual way.
"Why do you want me to stay?" he asked with a small frown.
"What if slasher maniacs actually come to get us?" I said, keeping my expression as serious as possible.
Blake couldn't help but chuckle, sitting back down next to me. Hazel groaned, pulling me closer to her.
"She's my friend. You're not stealing her from me again," Hazel said, glaring at Blake.
"We can all be friends," I suggested, trying to mediate.
"Or we can exclude him from our friend group," Hazel said, smirking.
"What is your problem, Hazel?" Blake scoffed, shooting her an annoyed look.
"Your face," Hazel quipped.
Before things could escalate, I stepped in. "Okay, guys, we should—"
But then, Blake did something completely unexpected. He lunged at Hazel.
"I'll show you your face, little brat," he growled, starting to chase her around the room.
"Stop, you meanie!" Hazel shrieked, darting behind the kitchen counter.
"You asked for it, Hazel!" Blake growled again, clearly enjoying himself.
"Lissy, help me! He's going to kill me!" Hazel screamed dramatically, running toward me.
I stepped in front of her, facing Blake. He looked mad—actually mad—but his expression only made me want to laugh.
"I'm going to tickle both of you to death," he warned, taking slow, deliberate steps toward us.
"Help us, someone! Please!" Hazel yelled.
"What the fuck is going on in here?" Federico's stern voice cut through the chaos as he entered the kitchen.
