Lissy Romano

"There is someone who wants to meet you," Vincenzo finally said after a long silence, taking a solid five minutes to collect his thoughts.

"Well, I was stressing over nothing then. You could've just said that from the start. Why the hesitation?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood with a smile.

He didn't respond right away. He just kept watching me, his gaze fixed on something—my reaction, my body language, or maybe he was just studying me.

I couldn't help but notice the way his eyes widened slightly. Was he surprised that I wasn't reacting the way he expected? Was I supposed to care more about whoever it was that wanted to meet me?

"Who wants to meet me?" I asked, brows furrowed.

"Our uncle. Your godfather." Vincenzo replied calmly.

"My godfather? Our uncle? Why didn't you tell me anything about him sooner? Is he Dad's or Mom's brother?" I threw out questions faster than I could think, the words tumbling out before I realized it.

It felt like my head was buzzing with so many questions, and I couldn't stop them. Maybe I was just a little overwhelmed—or maybe I was going a bit insane.

"He's Dad's younger brother. And I promise you, Lissy, we didn't tell you about him for a good reason." Vincenzo's voice softened, but there was something in his eyes now—something that looked like fear. Fear of what?

"He wants to meet me? I have a godfather, and he wants to meet me?" I repeated, almost in disbelief. I had always seen kids in movies with godparents, and I used to envy them.

"He's not exactly what you'd expect," Vincenzo added, his tone shifting.

"He has three legs? Four eyes? No teeth?" I teased, raising an eyebrow.

"No, you silly goose," Vincenzo laughed, his tension easing for a moment.

"Then he's just like I imagined." I said, my eyes sparkling.

"Lissy," Dante spoke up, drawing my attention.

"What's his name? My godfather's name?" I asked eagerly, though I was still processing everything.

"Federico Romano," Dante answered, and I noticed his expression darkening at the mention of him.

"Is he a maniac? Does he eat little kids for lunch?" I joked, trying to lighten the situation. "Why so serious? It's a good thing I have a godfather, right?" I added, trying to smile.

But my smile faltered when Vincenzo shook his head. He leaned closer, his elbows on the desk, his presence suddenly more intense.

"He's a dangerous man, Lissy," Vincenzo said, his voice serious.

I let out a short laugh, unsure if I should take him seriously. "Good joke. You almost had me there," I said, but as I looked at their faces, my amusement quickly faded. "Wait, are you serious?"

"He's not the kind, sweet godfather you'd imagine. He's cold and ruthless," Dante explained, his tone grim.

"Cold like you?" I quipped, looking at Dante with a mischievous grin. "You're cold, but I still love you. I haven't forgiven you, but I love you. If he's cold like you, we can make it work."
