Vincenzo left the house, and I was still in the kitchen with Matteo.
"So, you want to do something together?" Matteo asked, and I looked at him with excitement.
"Really? You're always so busy," I said as I rubbed the back of my head.
"I'm not busy today. We can watch a movie and think of something later," Matteo said, pinching my cheek.
"Alright. Okay, what movie?" I asked, noticing that he was grabbing nachos and gummy bears.
"Take whatever you want to drink," Matteo said, pointing to the fridge.
I grabbed two sodas, and we walked through the house to the living room.
"You should go put on something else; it'll be cold in those pajama shorts," Matteo said, noticing my outfit.
"Okay, you pick a movie while I'm gone, but no slashers," I said, eyeing him, and we set everything down on the coffee table.
He nodded, and I rushed out of the living room. As I ran upstairs, Santino stopped me.
"Where are you running, princess?" Santino asked with raised eyebrows.
"To change into something warmer. Matteo said it's too cold for shorts," I explained, smiling. "We're watching a movie. Want to join us?"
"Oh, sweetheart, I would love to, but I have to go," Santino said, planting a kiss on my forehead.
"Go where?" I asked, furrowing my brows. "What could be more important than spending time with me?" I chuckled.
"I'll be back later, then we can spend time together, princess," he said with a smile.
"Okay," I said. "But you still didn't tell me where you're going." I added.
"Work," he said, and I nodded. "Don't worry, just checking on a couple of things. I'll be back."
"Be careful," I said, hugging him.
"Always," he replied, kissing my hand, making me blush.
"Why's your knee bruised?" he asked, looking at me with concern.
"It's nothing," I said, patting his shoulder.
"It doesn't look like nothing," he said, gently touching the bruise.
"Ouch, don't touch it," I said, stepping back.
He stood tall and picked me up like I was a princess in a movie.
"I can walk, Santino," I said, rolling my eyes.
"What happened to your knee, Lissy?" he asked, his voice serious as he carried me to my room.
"Promise me you won't be mad," I said, crossing my arms.
"I promise," he said, though his voice said otherwise.
"Matteo pushed me, and I fell," I admitted, watching his body tense. "But it's okay. It was my fault," I added quickly, hoping to stop him from confronting our brother.
