Santino Romano

"Lissy... where is Lissy?" I asked as I opened my eyes, my voice hoarse and weak.

Domenico stood beside me, his face full of sadness. What happened to my Lissy?

"Tell me! Where is Lissy?" I demanded, trying to sit up, but he gently pushed me back down.

The pain in my chest was unbearable, but it was nothing compared to the ache of losing her. Her screams echoed in my mind, the way that bastard dragged her to the car replaying over and over again. If I had the strength, I'd slit his throat myself.

"Santino," Vincenzo said as he entered the room. His expression softened when his eyes met mine.

"Where's Lissy?" I asked again, more desperate this time.

Now all of my brothers were in the room, standing around my bed. But the one person I needed wasn't there.

"Why aren't you telling me anything?" I looked at them angrily, my voice rising despite the sharp, stabbing pain it caused.

"We haven't found her yet. We're working on it," Vincenzo said, his tone laced with pity.

"Then what the fuck are you doing in here? Find her!" I shouted, my anger barely masking the fear that gripped me.

"It's not that simple. We're doing everything we can. Don't worry," Dante said, his expression mirroring Vincenzo's sadness.

"Don't be sad," I barked. "Go and find her. Go! And don't come back until she's with you, for fuck's sake!"

The pain shot through my body with every word, but I didn't care.

"You need to rest," Domenico said in his usual calm, doctor-like tone.

"Fuck rest. If you can't find her, then help me up. I'll do it myself!" I snapped, trying to push myself upright, but Vincenzo and Domenico held me down.

"Boss, we found a possible location," one of our men said, stepping into the room. "We're not one hundred percent sure, but it's a strong lead."

"Fantastic. Help me up now," I said through gritted teeth, trying again to sit up.

"You just had surgery," Dante growled. "Sleep and stop acting like an idiot."

"Then go and bring me my Lissy," I hissed. "Today."

They exchanged looks, then left the room one by one, leaving Domenico behind. I knew they didn't want to leave me like this, but I didn't care. Lissy needed them more than I did.

"I'm fine. Go," I told Domenico, glaring at him.

"You just had surgery. I don't even know how your body will react to the medication we gave you," he argued.

"I'm fine. But what if she's hurt? What if she needs a doctor? Go and bring her to me!" I pointed to the door, my voice trembling.

Domenico sighed, patting my head with that ridiculous, brotherly affection. "I'll call Marco to stay with you. Don't move."

"I won't move. Just go." My voice softened, pleading with him.

The second Domenico left, I stared at the door, frustrated beyond belief. I felt useless, trapped in this bed while my girl was out there, needing me. My health didn't matter—she was my health.

Marco entered a few moments later, raising his eyebrows when he saw me sitting up.

"Domenico said you need to sleep, not sit," he said.

"Don't be annoying. You're pissing me off," I muttered, rolling my eyes.

Marco smirked. "I just saved your life. But yeah, no big deal, right?"

"Stronzo," I muttered under my breath, earning a laugh from him.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm the asshole who took the bullets out of your chest."

"Okay, fine. Thank you, Marco. I'm very grateful for your hard work," I said sarcastically. "But all I can think about is Lissy." My jaw clenched, the weight of my helplessness threatening to crush me.

"She'll be okay. She's strong, and she loves you all too much to give up," Marco said, his calm voice easing my nerves slightly.

But her screams wouldn't leave my head. What if they hurt her? What if she—

A sharp pain shot through my chest, and I instinctively clutched at it. Marco was at my side in an instant.

"Calm down, Santino. Your body's still in shock. You need to sleep. I promise I'll wake you as soon as they bring her back."

"You promise?" I asked, looking him straight in the eye.

"I promise."

"If you don't, I'll kill you," I said with as much conviction as I could muster.

Marco chuckled. "Understood."

I laid back, my body finally giving in to the exhaustion. Sleep came quickly, a brief reprieve from the agony.

When I woke, Marco was still there, checking my vitals.

"They found her?" I asked, hope surging in my chest.

Marco shook his head. "Not yet."

A sick feeling settled in my gut. "I have a bad feeling, Marco. Call them."

"I can't risk interrupting their mission. I get that you can't think clearly right now, but I can. Trust me. I love Lissy as much as you do."

"No one loves her like I do," I snapped. "She's my everything. I'd die for her."

"I know," Marco said gently. "But your brothers love her too. They'd all die for her, Santino. I see it in the way they look at her."

He left the room briefly, returning with Jax in his arms.

"Take him. She'd want you to keep an eye on him," Marco said, handing me the tiny puppy.

Jax whimpered, looking around as if searching for her. He missed her, just like I did.

"Where did you find him?" I asked.

"Matteo found him in your car, under Lissy's seat. She hid him there—probably to keep him safe."

My heart broke for the millionth time that day. Even in danger, her first thought was for others. My sweet, selfless girl.

"Don't worry, boy," I murmured to Jax. "She'll be back soon. She'd never leave you. She'd never leave me."

My voice cracked, tears spilling down my cheeks as Jax licked my face.

I didn't care about the tears. All I cared about was my Lissy.
