They said their goodbyes and left, but Dante only looked at me with that disappointed expression on his face and didn't say goodbye. It stung, but I understood him. He never chose to have me as his sister.

They got into their black, expensive cars and sped off. I stood in the doorframe, watching them drive away, the knot in my chest tightening. I know they didn't leave me, but I couldn't shake the fear that they might never come back.

"Come on, Lissy, let's go back inside," Giovanni said, gently putting his arm around me.

"They will come back, right?" I asked, staring at the night sky, full of stars.

"Of course they will, Lissy," Giovanni said, patting my head.

"Okay..." I murmured, keeping my gaze on the sky.

"You like stars?" Giovanni asked, glancing up at the sky too.

"Yes. When I was little, I used to look up at the night sky and count the stars as best as I could," I said, my voice soft as I continued watching.

"I'll talk to Vincenzo. Maybe we can buy you a telescope," Giovanni said, looking at me with a kind smile.

I smiled back. "That would be nice."

"Come on now, let's go inside," Giovanni said, gently pulling me back inside.

We walked into the living room, where Enzo was sitting, his eyes glued to his phone. He was practically addicted to it.

"You want to watch something, or get ready for bed?" Giovanni asked, his tone shifting from laid-back to that of the protective older brother.

"I want to stay here, with you. Is that okay?" I asked, looking up at Giovanni just as Matteo walked into the living room.

He sighed loudly, his body language making it clear he was not thrilled. He rolled his eyes at me, like I was some inconvenience. I could tell—he didn't want to be near me. I could feel his frustration, and it hurt. This was his home, but I was just a stranger here.

"Yes, I'd love for you to stay here with me, Lissy," Giovanni said, his voice soft, reassuring me as we both sat down next to Enzo on the couch.

Matteo didn't say anything. Instead, he turned and walked out of the room, not even bothering to stay in the same space as me. That stung more than I wanted to admit.

"What do you want to watch?" Giovanni asked, handing me the remote.

I didn't take it. Instead, I pushed Giovanni's hand away and stood up.

"Where are you going, Lissy?" Giovanni asked, his gaze shifting to me, while Enzo briefly looked up from his phone.

"I'm going to my room. Maybe then Matteo will come back... I don't want to be the reason he can't chill in his living room," I said, starting to walk away.

"This is your living room too, Lissy," Giovanni said, his voice firm but gentle.

Enzo added, "It's not just about that, Lissy."
