It's been three days since I reunited with my Santino, after everything we went through. Domenico insisted we both stay in the clinic for now. But honestly, I don't mind. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is great, and there's everything I need here.
But when I say "everything," I'm not just talking about things like clothes or other supplies. I'm talking about Santino, and Jax. Jax is staying with us too. Domenico wasn't exactly thrilled, but I told him he's my service dog and I need him with me. End of story.
Our brothers visit every day, sometimes more than once, and they always bring food. That's honestly the best part of my day.
"Let's guess which brother will bring us dinner tonight..." I said, looking over at Santino, smiling.
"It's not interesting if we can't get something out of it. If you guess right, I'll give you another bundle of money, hm?" Santino said, flashing that genuine, contagious smile of his.
"But if you guess right, I don't have anything to give you," I replied, resting my head in my hands.
"You're already giving me everything I could ever want," Santino said, making my heart flutter.
"Like what?" I asked, my face flushing with excitement.
"It's you. It's always you. You're giving me that smile of yours. That's all I want—to see you smile, Lissy," he said, his eyes full of sincerity.
I couldn't help but pull a cute, teasing expression. "So, you start," he said, and I bit my lower lip.
"But we can't say the same name," I reminded him, and he nodded.
"I think it'll be Vincenzo or Giovanni," I guessed, glancing at Jax, who was comfortably resting in my lap.
"Pick one," he prompted, chuckling.
"Well... Giovanni already called me a few times today. Five times, to be exact. So, I think Vincenzo will probably bring the dinner. He wants to make sure we're all okay," I said, mocking Vincenzo's voice.
"Alright, I'll go with Enzo. He's always thinking about food—he'll eat his own and then eat ours, probably bringing us his leftovers," Santino said, shaking his head with a playful grin.
"We'll see," I replied, glancing at the door before looking back at Jax, who was wagging his tail and trying to bite my fingers.
"I think it's time for us to stop playing, Jax. You're biting too hard," I said, gently kissing his head before slowly standing up.
"Where are you going?" Santino asked, furrowing his brows.
"Away," I lied, trying to hide my smile.
"I'm going with you," Santino said, attempting to sit up.
"Don't even think about standing up. I'm only going to the bathroom," I said with a smile.
"Oh... okay," he said, laying back down with a sigh.
"Give me that puppy. I'll have a word with him about biting my little sister," Santino added, clenching his jaw as he looked at Jax.
