I woke up feeling completely rested after sleeping through the entire night... I have no idea how that happened, but it felt amazing. Maybe it was because my brothers were actually being nice to me. After dinner, I called them, and they were so sweet. It made me feel like a little princess.
Today is the first day of school... Yay... Ugh, no.
I got out of bed and grabbed my school uniform. Skirt, shirt, and jacket... cute, right?
Like Enzo always says, school uniforms are for important events at school or for your first or last day. This is my first day at this school, so I have to wear it.
Oh, and whenever there are tests in any of the subjects, we're required to wear the uniform too. It's kind of stupid, but Santino explained that it's an expensive and respected school, so I guess I need to make a good first impression.
I headed to the bathroom, did my morning routine, washed my hair, and even put on mascara, lip gloss, and a little eyeshadow. Hopefully, my brothers won't notice.
I slipped into my school uniform, and honestly, it looks pretty great on me. I'll wear white socks with my cool black shoes.
After finishing everything I needed to do, I packed my school supplies into my backpack. Then, I hid my notebook under the mattress. I don't want anyone reading about my feelings, especially since I can't bring it to school. Someone will probably steal it and make fun of me in front of everyone.
I unplugged my new phone from its charger and tucked it into my pocket. Walking downstairs, I saw Enzo and Marco sitting in the living room, talking in Italian and watching TV.
"Good morning," I said as I entered. They both looked me up and down quickly.
"Lissy, hey," Marco said.
"How did you sleep, sorellina?" Enzo asked, his voice full of curiosity.
"Actually, I've never slept this well, like ever in my life," I said, setting my backpack on the floor.
"Good. That's really good," Marco said with a smile.
"That's because you swam before you fell asleep..." Enzo teased, barely holding in his laughter.
"Haha. Not funny," I shot back with a side-eye.
"I'm serious, though. Every time I swim, I sleep much better," Enzo explained, then turned to Marco. "Tell me, doctor, is there any logical reason for that?"
"Well, swimming takes a lot of energy, so your body's trying to recover, which helps you sleep better. That's why you don't wake up in the middle of the night," Marco said, looking at Enzo.
"That makes sense," Enzo replied, rubbing the back of his head.
"Marco..." I said quietly, and they both immediately turned to me.
"Yeah?" Marco asked, his tone shifting with concern.
"Do you have more medication... for the pain?" I asked in a low voice.
"Yes, that's why I'm here. I'll inject some fluid to relieve the pain. But how does it feel now, Lissy? More or less pain than before?" Marco asked, his voice gentle.
