Tobias POV
They decided to cancel simulations today since we have the final one later this week but the main reason was because of Amar's death this morning. I'm still shaken by it, and upset about it. I know tris can sense it but she chooses not to push it which I appreciate."Hey!" Tris says running into the dorms. "Hi." I say turning my head towards her. She walks over and sits across from me on her bed. "So I wanted to talk to you about something before you heard about it from someone else." She says and now I'm getting a bit nervous. "What is it?" I ask rubbing the back of my neck, my hand touching the permanent black ink.
"Tonight, everyone's going zip inning in honor of Amar." She says. "And I think you should come." She says and I laugh lightly. "I'm not joking you know." She tells me and I stop laughing.
"So you want me to zip line. Thousands of feet in the air. In the dark." I tell her. She shrugs. I laugh, "No way hun, I'm not zip lining." I tell her.
She gets up, "Don't do it for me. Do it for Amar." She says and walks out of the dorms leaving me all alone.

It's way after dinner, closer to midnight I believe. Everyone is getting on the train to take them to the Hancock building for zip lining. I zip up my black sweatshirt and sprint out of the dorms to the train, which in my luck is already starting to leave.I sprint faster and faster towards it, then I see someone poke their head out and smile at me. They reach out lending their arm to me, helping pull me up. I gladly take it and finally make it. I bend and take a breath of air.
"I'm glad you made it." Tris says. I smile at her, her words stuck with me after she left. I have to do this, to pay my respects to him a way a true dauntless would. He'd be proud of me, I tell myself. He'd be proud.
"Hey man!" I hear Zeke's voice over the rumbling train. "Hi." I say. "I'm so excited!!" Shauna exclaims bouncing up and down. Everyone has anxious and excited looks on their faces, everyone but me. "This is your first time right?" Shauna asks me. Tris is talking with Uriah and Christina. "Yeah." I tell her. "Oh you're gonna love it!" She assures me. "Mhm." I mumble. She playfully slaps my arm and I laugh, my laugh filled with nerves.
"It's time to jump." Tris tell me taking my hand. I look down at her and she looks up to me. "You'll be fine." She says and softly kisses my lips. Then she jumps leaving her touch still vibrating on my lips. I close my eyes, take a deep breath and jump off. I land better this time, and Tris soon runs over to me.
"You alright?" She asks as I stand and brush some dust off. "Yeah I'm fine." I say and give her a small smile to reassure her. She laughs, "That was the worst smile ever. I know you're nervous but it'll be fun and you'll be able to try out your fear in real life." She says.
"You know that doesn't help." I say taking her hand in mine and following the other dauntless here. "Sorry." She mumbles. "Tris!" I hear Uriah's voice from behind us. He runs up to us and starts walking backwards so he can talk to us.
"Tris you going first again?" He asks her. I'm sure she will, she looks pumped with adrenalin and ready to go. "Not this time." She answers. "I think I'll go last, so I can go with four." She says and her words almost take away all the fear in myself. "Okay! See you up at the top!" Uriah says and runs off.
"You can go first if you want." I tell Tris and she looks up at me. "I know, but I want to go with you." She says. I smile and soon we get to the building. We walk in and we all head into an elevator.
Once the metal doors shut my breath hitches, Tris hears it and grabs my hand and holds it closely to her. People begin to move around and that's when the sweating and dizziness kick in. I hear Tris whispering to people to back up a little but you can't really go far.
"How much longer?" I mumble into her ear. "Umm, well a few more floors." She reassures me but I know it'll be longer than that. I close my eyes but that just makes it worse.
All of a sudden I feel someone's lips pressed hard against mine, my eyes pop open to see it's Tris. I close them again and kiss back, soon it blows into a make out session. There gag noises and "knock it off" from people but we keep on kissing. As soon I know, the elevator makes a ding and the doors open. "See, only a few floors." Tris says and winks at me, I laugh and step out with her.
The cool wind wisps through my hair, sending chills to my bone. Tris's face is filled with awe while mine is filled with pure fear.
"Me first!" I hear zeke scream. Uriah and another dauntless man helps him into the strap and soon enough he's flying through the air. Christina goes next, will, Shauna, and the list goes on and on till Tris and I are the last ones.
"Ready?" Tris asks looking up at me, I gulp and nod. We get strapped in, we're each in our own but very close. "Just breathe and have fun." Tris says and blows me a kiss. Then she zips off, leaving me scared as hell.
Ipush off as well, in the dark of the night I'm soaring. I can hear the faint noise of the train and what I think is tris's screams of fun. I can't, I'm too struck with terror to even look up, and especially down. I do eventually peek my eyes open and I pass by a building with glass windows, where I can see my reflection.
I pass it and soon see a group surrounded by a giant x. I know this is where I pull my break, I reach back and yank down. The screeching of the break fill the ally and soon I'm still. Though every part of me is still shaking and still moving. I drop and am caught by the group of dauntless. I'm set on the sweet sweet ground, and greeted by Tris.
"So?? How did you like it?!" She asks with excitement in her voice. "Never doing that again." I say and she laughs. I kiss her on the lips and we head back.
