"Breath in and out, you look perfect Y/n, " Grant said, grabbing your hands, pulling you closer to him.

"I'm sorry, these things just make me very nervous," you said, resting your face on his chest.

To say it mildly, both of you had dressed up. Tony had given a very strict message that it was a dressy night. Perhaps the reason why you felt like it was strict, was because he kept calling you to remind you. It was almost like he had never seen you in dressy clothes. Who were you joking? You never wore this fancy clothes. He had all the reasons to believe you would not follow the dress code. Still, here you stood, in a long red, tight dress, with your handsome date in all black.

You look up at him, your smile growing. You couldn't believe that you were going to be able to walk hand in hand, with this man. To say you were lucky felt like an understatement. You had won in lottery. You fixed the neckline of his shirt, as you pushed him down to your level. He laughed low, even heels couldn't make you even with him. You smiled before you gave him a good kiss and leaned your forehead against his. You immediately began to laugh when you saw his lips.

"I'm so-so sorry, my lipstick," You laughed, before you helped removing it.

"Woah, who said I wanted it removed?" Grant teased, grabbing your hand as he led you toward the door.

Grant was being so gentle with you. He held your hand, shared his jokes with you, making sure you were laughing every other minute. He knew you were beyond nervous. The Avengers was a big deal, no matter how much you were against what they stood for. You also felt like you perhaps hadn't left the best mark after your first meeting with them, as you did end up working against their back for months. It was many reasons, good reasons for you to be nervous... and then there was Steve, the not so good reason to be nervous. Steve's opinion shouldn't matter. It didn't. It really didn't matter. That's at least what you tried to tell yourself.

"We're here," Grant said, and ran out of the car to open the door for you.

"Let's go," he said, taking your hand, making sure you got safely out.

Both of you turn around to look at the massive mansion. The two of you had been here a lot, Ward more than you, but this felt different for the both of you. It was really the first time that some of your work colleges were seeing the two of you together. It felt serious. Still, that was perhaps the only thing you weren't nervous about. Being with Ward, was like running around with a golden trophy. You couldn't complain. You knew that Grant's eyes were no longer on the building, it hadn't been in a while. They were on you. You looked up at him, giving him a smile before you took the first step, leading the way.

"No matter what happen, remember that we got each other," Grant said, lifting your chin up.

You smiled at his words. You were in the elevator. It was probably the last moment you would have for yourselves this evening. Grant even made sure, that you would remember that moment. Sometimes, Grant almost made you tear up of how caring he was. You bit the inside of you under lip, before you hugged him tight. The door opened, as you let go of him, taking his hand.

"We have each other," You repeated with a smile, taking the lead with Grant following right behind out the elevator and around the corner to the living room.

Your eyes almost popped out by the sight. Tony had the whole place redecorated for the dinner, and the place was full of these bizarre superheros in their dressy clothes having conversations with each other. Bizarre was the only fair way of describing them and the whole place. Still, your smile grew when a familiar voice shouted out for you.

"Look who is here, it's my homie!" Sam yelled.

Guess the party was on.
