"She is freaking wild," Bucky laughed low as he tucked his pants back on.
"She has grown," Steve smiled lightly as he looked over at you.
Steve pulled his t-shirt back on. You slept like a baby tucked in between the sheets. Your skin was glowing from the sweat. Your hair was no longer in a ponytail, it was all messy and spread out. Ah, you had worked incredibly hard for them. Steve couldn't deny that you had come far since the day he met you, still you had a long way to go. He still didn't trust you after your little stunt, and he was more aware than ever that he had people watching him. Students and his colleagues.
Bucky walked towards the bed and sat down on the bedframe, studying your face. He knew that this would probably be his only time seeing you like this. So naked and bare, but at peace. Your breathing was heavy, like you were trying to catch up for lost time. He could only imagine what you were dreaming off behind those closed eyes. He couldn't stop himself from gently brushing his finger over your red cheeks. Bucky suddenly felt Steve's hand on his shoulder.
"Time to go, she needs to rest," Steve said coldly, nodding towards the door.
Bucky stood up walking with Steve, until he stopped and looked back at you confused.
"You're leaving her here?" Bucky asked, it was unlikely him to care, particularly since it was you. However, it wasn't so much so that he truly cared for you and your wellbeing, it was more the fact that he knew Steve deep down liked you.
"It's her room?" Steve answered, crossing his arms confused by his friend's question.
"Are you still mad at her?" Bucky asked, now out of curiosity.
Steve rolled his eyes as he moved his eyes from Bucky into the wall. He did not like the question. Steve knew that Bucky knew very well that he didn't like questions like this. It was one simple reason behind it. They required an emotional answer. One he didn't want to give. Steve let his hands lose and grabbed the handle of the door, opening it for Bucky. Any other man would be afraid that their friend had caught feelings, but Steve knew that Bucky didn't ask out of jealousy. Both wanted what was best for one another. Bucky walked out as Steve closed the door and looked down at Bucky.
"She's going to sleep for fifteen hours, she's never done this before, she needs to rest and she does not need me to hold her hand through the process," Steve said, resting his hands on his hips.
"She is a big girl," He said, looking into the hallway, making sure no one else saw where they were coming from.
Bucky gave him a slight nod, as they began to walk back to the common area. It was silent between them, and Bucky knew why. Steve was just waiting for a secure area to speak out loud. They sat down on the couch. Bucky could see that his friend was still deep in thought, waiting to soak up the right words to say.
"She almost made me lose my job, Tony doesn't trust me anymore and I'm afraid he'll require for her to become his student... Imagine her, being trained by Stark?" Steve hushed out.
It was one of the only things Steve had thought about since the second he got taken off. He already saw what kind of monster he would make you into. You were gifted, even Steve had stopped arguing about that, particularly when it came to your expert field, but you had no moral code. Who else had no moral compass? Tony Fucking Stark. Tony would weaponize your knowledge, Steve had no doubt about it.
"I can't let that happen," Steve whispered under his breath.
"So, she is not perfect? None of us are," Bucky commented.
Steve took a deep breath, Bucky didn't understand it.
"You have seen her," Steve said resting his elbow on his knees as he leaned forward, looking his friend dead serious in his eyes.
"She is," Steve said, his voice was cold and stern. Bucky looked at him slightly surprised.
"That's the problem, she is perfect," Steve mumbled annoyed.
He hated to admit it. You were perfect. It was nothing he would like to change about you, or at least your looks. Every now and then you would put up an act, and even behave perfectly, that's where Steve got caught, that's when everything went sour. He let his guard down for one second, he got emotional, even angry at you, and you were able to catch him right in your spider web.
"I underestimated her, and I won't let it happen again," He whispered.
