"You know, I really like your place," you said, letting your fingers run through the walls as you stepped inside.
Steve closed the door, kicked off his shoes and looked up at you. It was only your second time in here, but Steve still felt like you belonged here. It made sense to see you here. You fit in. Steve took off his jacket and loosened up his tie. You stopped in the middle of the living room and began to scan the room. Steve smiled.
"I like having you here," he said, walking into the kitchen area taking out a big bottle of water and walked over to you.
"Sit down," he said, pointing at the couch. He didn't want you to be standing more than you had to, especially in high heels when he knew your legs were hurting. You seemed confused but sat down.
"Water, to lessen tomorrow's headache," He gave you the bottle. You opened it and began to drink.
Steve sat down on his knees in front of you. You looked confused down at Steve. What was he doing? Steve carefully lifted up your foot and took off your high heels. Your eyes soften up. It was new to you, how caring Steve had been to you lately. It made you feel good. Steve looked up at you making sure you were okay before he carefully removed the other shoe. Why did such a simple thing like this warm your heart so much? You couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with you.
It was weird. Steve didn't normally like to take care of people. People should be strong enough to take care of themselves. Somehow with you, he had grown to like it or at least not hate it. He had figured that it was a good way for the two of you to connect. Steve put the shoes to the side and sat down on the floor, resting his hands behind him, simply looking at you. He knew he was the lucky one.
"I'll let you shower, and then you can just pick something from my wardrobe to sleep in," Steve said, poking your foot. He didn't want to pressure you anymore.
"Thank you," You smiled, thankful for his offer.
You drank up the water, and walked over to the door Steve had said was the bathroom. You turned the shower on, waiting for the temperature to be alright. You got the dress off, the underwear, everything. When the water felt good, you walked in. You enjoyed how the water washed your body clean. Ironically since you weren't exactly a big sport person, swimming was something you had always enjoyed. Swimming and diving. It was something about having your head under water, feeling the pressure leave, calming your head down. It was actually the only activity you enjoyed doing with your father. You smiled low by the memory and finished showering. You wrapped a towel around your body and walked out to the living room. Steve already stood there waiting for you by a different door. If your memory was correct, it was the door to his bedroom. You walked over to him.
"Wardrobe is just there, I'll let you sleep," Steve said, and was about to close the door.
You were confused.
"Where are you sleeping?" You asked. Steve stopped the door, holding a little gap open.
"I'll take the couch," He explained.
Steve didn't want to invade your privacy. It might sound hypocritical, but Steve knew you were with Grant. Steve had also seen that for some stupid reason Grant made you smile. You and Steve finally had something great going on, but the fact that it was pure sexual kind of protected both of you. Steve didn't do well with feelings, and he had realised that you weren't that good with them either. Sleeping together over night, it seemed like a bad idea. After all based on experience, last time you woke him up trying to punch him. The time before you tried to run off before he woke up. It was clear as a day, that you didn't want that kind of relationship with Steve. You already had that with Grant. Steve had to learn to respect that.
"Ohh, okay," You mumbled.Steve closed the door.
This felt weird. For some reason, you had thought that Steve would be in here with you. You tried to brush away the thought. Stop being silly Y/n, this was good. This was great! Steve had a massive bed, way bigger than the one you had in your dorm, that you now had all to yourself. You could really spread out here. Look at you finding the positive's in everything. You walked over to his wardrobe and looked around. It was very hot nowadays, so you simply just stole one of Steve's boxers. You turned off the lights and laid down in his bed, wrapped the duvet around you. It was a very big bed, that you had all to yourself... You turned around looking, it was a lot of space. Y/n stop thinking. You turn, laying on your back, staring up at the roof. One sheep jumped over the fence... two sheep jumped over the fence... three sheep jumped over the fence...Why did you feel so empty? You couldn't stop your brain from evil thoughts. You tried to close your eyes, but you couldn't sleep.
Fine intrusive thoughts, you win. You stood up, walked to the door. Held one hand over your breasts as you walked out to the living room. You could already see from a distance that Steve was already asleep, and the lights were off. Maybe this was a bad idea. You didn't want to wake him up. You walked over to him. He looked funny. He was way too big to be sleeping on that couch. He looked adorable. You smiled weakly, just taking in the look of a peaceful Steve.
"Y/n?" Steve suddenly said, almost making you jump.
"You were awake the whole time?" You asked confused."I am a super soldier, I could hear when you turned in bed," Steve smiled weakly opening his eyes.
You were wearing his boxers, you looked cute – he liked it.
"You, okay?" he asked and sat up.
Steve was only wearing his boxers... He looked good as always, you thought.
"Yes," you said.
Steve laughed low.
"Y/n what is it?" Steve asked, knowing you wouldn't just come out here to look at him, though he would gladly let you.
You took his hand in yours, playing with his fingers.
"Your bed is really big," you said.
Steve laughed low.
"I'm a big guy," he said.
Ugh, why couldn't Steve take your hint.
"And I'm a tiny person," you said, hoping he would catch on.
"Y/n, what are you saying?" Steve smiled gently at you.
"It's a lot of space," you said, hating to be direct or to come of as needy.
"That's good," Steve nodded.
"Steve, I was wondering if you would like to sleep in the bed... together with me," You finally rambled out embarrassed.
Steve laughed low and stood up. He kissed your head.
"Lead the way," Steve said.It might be dark, but Steve could see the way you lightened up. It warmed him up. You walked in back to the bedroom. Steve followed you hand in hand. You laid down in the bed, still not letting go off his hand. Steve laid down, carefully behind you. You curled in closer to him moving his hand so he held around you. Steve smiled. You were like his little teddy bear. His heart was melting. He could get used to this.
"Goodnight, my moonlight," He whispered, knowing you were already drafting far in to dreamland.
